MOTHER EFFIE MAE SIMS ‘MADEA’
A Celebration of Life for Mother Effie Mae Sims, known to many as “Madea,” will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, 11 a. m. at Revelation Community M. B. Church, 7225 E. Chelsea Street, Tampa, 33610, with Rev. Dr. G. B. Robinson, Pastor, offi- ciating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Tampa.
Born on December 23, 1932, Mother Effie Mae Sims was raised in Enterprise, Alabama where she also attended public school. She accepted Christ at an early age. Seeking a new start for herself, she moved to Tampa in 1962.
Mother Effie Mae Sims was employed with Oak Park Clean- ers in Ybor City for over 20 years and was well known for her pressing skills. Later, she worked at Al Capote Cleaners on Kennedy Blvd. for 10 years until she retired.
She married her husband, Mr. Lenzy Sims, Jr. on June 14th 1985. Mr. Sims, Jr. passed away on August 11, 1988, leaving Mother Sims widowed. Mother Sims was a member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church and later joined the Rev- elation Community Missionary Baptist Church serving faithfully under the leadership of Rev. Dr. G. B. Robinson until she recently became ill.
Monday, August 1, 2016 a sweet whisper from heaven called out, “Mother Effie Mae Sims Thy good and faithful ser- vant, come and take thy rest.”
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Clifford and Flora Williams; great grandson, Coryell Parker; son-in-law, Mar- vin Parker, Sr.; and most re- cently, her brother-in-law, Wendell Sims.
Sweet memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of: her daughter, Annie Mae Parker of Tampa; 6 grandchildren, Debo- rah Parker (Frankie), Marvin Parker, Jr., Anthony Parker, Sr. (Cucinda), Jackie Wilson (Dea- con Albert), Lashon Richards (Charles), all of Tampa, and Yolanda Hart (Solomon) of Mic- cosukee, FL; mother-in-law, Cal- lie Sims of Greenwood, FL; 3 sisters-in-law, Pearl Moultrie and Barbara Sims, both of Greenwood, FL, and Gwendolyn Ward (James) of Panama City, FL; 6 brothers-in-law, Emanuel Sims (Donna) of Clearwater, FL, Robert Sims (Mary), Wesley Sims (Rosalind), Charles Sims (Joyce), James Sims, and Roy Chester Sims, all of Greenwood, FL; a devoted friend, Sister Georgia; and a host of other sor- rowing relatives and friends, in- cluding great grands, nieces, nephews and neighbors who in- clude, Ron Anderson, Mary Teem, Mary Helms, Alma Bow- ers and Rosa Douglas.
A wake service will be held Fri- day, August 12, 2016 at Revela- tion Community MBC, 7225 E.

MR. WAYMON D. POPE
A homegoing celebration for Mr. Waymon D. Pope of Los An- geles, CA, formerly of Tampa, who departed this life on August 4, 2016 will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016, 11 a. m. at Thirty-Fourth Street Church of God with Bishop Thomas Scott, senior pastor, with Rev. Dr. Maxine Woodside, officiating. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Waymon D. Pope was born on November 11, 1963 in Tampa, and attended McDonald Train- ing Center. Regardless of being diagnosed as intellectually chal- lenged, he never let that bother him and never wanted to be for- gotten. In case someone might have forgotten or tried to ignore him he would remind them with his famous saying, “Ya’ll know me.”
He was preceded in death by: parents, Richard and Rosa Lee Pope; brothers, his twin, War- ren Pope, Alfonso and Richard Pope and Howard Johnson; sis- ters, Patricia, Yvonne, and Diane Pope.

MR. RAYMOND ‘RED’ LANG
Homegoing services cele- brating the life of Raymond “Red” Lang who passed away on August 6, 2016 will be held with Military honors on Saturday, Au- gust 13, 2016, 2 p. m. at Harmon Funeral Home, 5002 North 40th Street, Tampa, 33610, with Pas- tor Billy Chatman, Jr., officiat- ing.
Raymond was born on June 2, 1937 in Tampa, to the late Irvin and Gertrude Lang. He was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County. He later went on to join the United States Army. He was a long distance truck driver for well over twenty years.
He was also an entrepreneur and very well known throughout the city of Tampa. He was the owner and operator of the “Eight Ball” pool hall of Ybor City.
He leave to cherish his mem- ory: his children, James Lang, Donte Lang, Charles Williams, Dwayne Ware, Raeisha Lang, and Mario Hughes-Bates; heart- warming memories to his sis- ters, Norman Jean (Charlie) Jones, Barbara Kelly, Vernell (Will) Talley, Sharon (Billy) Chatman; brother, Alfred Lang; also left to cherish in his memo- ries are his grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation for Raymond “Red” Lang will be held this Fri- day evening from 5 p. m. until 8 p. m.
On Saturday the remains may be viewed from 1 p. m. until 1:45 p. m. followed by the pro- cessional march to begin the cel- ebration. Interment of the remains will be made in The Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
