18-Year-Old Killed In Traffic Accident
Two Brothers Facing First-Degree Murder
The Florida Highway Pa- trol is investigating an acci- dent that left a teenager dead. The accident took place Mon- day afternoon in Gibsonton.
According to a press re- lease, a Brandon teenager was driving on Interstate 75 when he attempted to pass another vehicle. There were two other teenagers in the vehicle with him, a 17-year-old and an 18- year-old.
Investigators said that as the car attempted to pass, the front of the vehicle collided with the left rear of the vehicle
he was attempting to pass. The vehicle entered the median and overturned. The 18-year- old passenger from Wimauma, who was report- edly not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The driver and the 17-year- old suffered minor injuries.
The 58-year-old driver of the second vehicle was not in- jured.
The Florida Highway Pa- trol no longer identifies people involved in traffic accidents.
Detectives with the Lake- land Police Department have arrested two brothers. They have been charged in connec- tion with a murder that took place in Lakeland last Friday.
According to police, Roberto Rodriguez, 31, and his 30-year-old brother, Reynaldo Rodriguez, are both facing first-degree mur- der charges. Police said prior to the murder, both men had been seen out with the victim and others at a residence on Cornelia Avenue.
At some point, a fight en- sued involving the victim. Po- lice said at the time of the fight, Roberto left the home. He returned within minutes,

entered through the backdoor, and allegedly shot the victim. Both brothers then fled the scene, police said.

ers on Sunday. They also found a hidden handgun that is believed to be the murder weapon and ammunition. Both were transported to the Polk County Jail.
Two Charged In Connection With Shooting Of Teen

Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a shooting that left a 14-year-old injured. The incident took place Tuesday night.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Kaiden Jeremy Horning and Gerald Randall Robin- son, III, both 17, were taken into custody.
Police said around 9 p.m., on May 5th, Horning and Robinson, along with other teenagers drove to the 11300 block of 122nd Terrace, North, in Largo, to fight with a female at the location.
Deputies said Robinson parked on the street and stayed in the car. Horning is said to have walked towards the group of teenagers gath- ered outside. He is alleged to have pulled a firearm and the teenagers fled inside the house.
Horning is alleged to have fired several rounds to- ward the group and the resi- dence. He then returned to the vehicle and he and Robinson drove away.
The unidentified girl was struck by one of the bullets fired. She was treated at a local hospital.
Horning was arrested on an adult warrant and charged with attempted second-degree murder, and throwing a deadly missile into an occupied build- ing.
