Protesters Against Beyonce At NFL HQ In NYC ‘A No Show’
Tuesday was the day that protesters were supposed to gather at the NFL HQ in NYC to boycott Beyonce for her display of Black identity dur- ing the Super Bowl 50 Half- time show, which paid homage to the Black Panthers’ 50th anniversary. But it turns out the event was a bust; it’s re- ported only about three pro- testers showed up.
Early Tuesday morning, a tweet from a group called “Proud of the Blues” account called on protesters to attend. “Be safe and keep it classy – because THAT’S HOW WE DO! #USA#AllLivesMatter #BlueLivesMatter #Boy- cottBeyonce #NFL,” they tweeted along with a state- ment.
The event was supposed to start at 1 pm Eastern, but in- stead, only the #IStandByBey- once crowd showed and stood in “formation”!
A group called Black Girl Rising was present to counter the anti-Beyonce protests. They held signs that read things like “Me loving me doesn’t mean me hating you,” and “why are people afraid of black pride?” The anti-Bey protest ultimately turned into a pro-Beyoncé/Black Lives

It seems like Rhymefest was actually on to something when he said Kanye West needed professional counseling. Last Saturday night (Feb. 13), Kanye gave two great per- formances on Saturday Night Live, but sources are saying that West almost backed out of his scheduled appearance at the last minute in epic Yeezy fashion.
“Just moments leading into the live show, and during the live show, Kanye had a melt- down and threatened to walk off,” said a source familiar with the scene.
“It had something to do with the set,” said a source. “Kim, who was in the audience with Kylie Jenner, had to come down. Lorne had to personally talk to Kanye. There were a few really tense minutes” when it looked like West was walk- ing, leaving the live NBC show in the lurch.

Denise Matthews, the singer, model, and actress known as Vanity, has died. The New York Times reports that she died at a hospital in Fremont, CA, after a long struggle with health issues re- lated to her kidneys. She was 57.
Raised in Niagara Falls, On tario, Matthews worked as a model in Canada before mov- ing to the U.S., where she met Prince at the American Music Awards. He helped her form the group Vanity 6, who had a hit in 1982 with "Nasty Girl." After one album, she broke off to pursue a solo career, releas- ing two LPs on Motown–Wild Animal and Skin on Skin–as well as starring in films such as The Last Dragon and Action Jackson.
In the early 1990s, Matthews suffered renal fail- ure and lost both her kidneys. She blamed her ill health on drug use connected to her lifestyle in the entertainment industry.

the backlash he received from his Twitter bombs on Wiz Khalifa, then against Amer- ica’s darling, Taylor Swift, or simply that his financial woes have become a heavy cross for even Yeezus to bare, it does seem like the man who has pro- claimed himself the greatest living artist has been off his kil- ter as of late.
But if history tells us any- thing it’s that the distance be- tween genius and insanity is measured only by success, and success is something that Kanye knows all too well. Still though, a little counseling— and a timeout from Twitter— wouldn’t hurt.
