Police Seek Help
Detention Deputy Charged With DUI

Man Killed At
McDonald’s
Last Friday, a 20-year-old man was shot while at a Mc- Donald’s Restaurant in South Tampa. He died as a result of his injuries..
According to the Tampa Police Department, the victim has been identified as Nicholas A. Mortazavi.
Officers responded to the restaurant at 3515 S. Dale Mabry around 7:45 p.m. When they arrived, they discovered Mortazavi was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died a few hours later.
Detectives are currently continuing their investigation and they are questioning per- sons of interest in the case. However, no arrests have been made.

Search For Vehicle Burglary Suspects
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is seeking in- formation on three male sus- pects who burglarized several cars in the Riverview area. The burglaries took place between July 10th, around 6 p.m. and July 11th, at approximately 4 a.m.
The suspects were cap- tured on surveillance video “carhopping” on Jim Court in Riverview. Several unlocked cars were entered, which re- sulted in the theft of two firearms.
One of the suspects was seen wearing a darker colored hooded sweatshirt with a hor- izontal stripe across the body. There was also a logo on the right chest area and the num- ber “98.”
It is believed that the same suspects were involved in sev- eral vehicle burglaries and thefts in the area.

To Solve Murder
Of Tampa Man
Last Saturday, a Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy was ar- rested. He was charged with DUI.
Police said Jose Cruz, 31, was driving his 2011 Ford Ranger in the parking lot of the McDonald’s, 9870 U. S. Highway 301 around 3:30 a.m. Cruz is alleged to have struck two cement poles and his vehicle became stuck on a cement median.

The Tampa Police Depart- ment is asking the commu- nity for assistance to solve a murder. The victim was shot on July 5th. The shooting took place in the 2700 block of E. 18th Avenue, late Thursday.
According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that 39-year- old Derrick Leonard Russ, of Tampa, had been shot in the head. Russ was transported to Tampa Gen- eral Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He died as a result of his injuries on July 10th.
During the investigation into the shooting, police learned that two vehicles had also been struck by gunfire during the incident that took place shortly before 11:30

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 17-year-old in connec- tion with two murders. The incidents took place in Bradenton.
At approximately 12:20 Monday morning, Bradenton Police responded to a shoot- ing victim at Manatee Memo- rial Hospital. The victim at the hospital died and the Manatee County Homicide Team began investigating.
A subsequent investiga- tion led detectives to the back of a shopping center at 2114 Cortez Rd. W., Bradenton. Police discovered a second victim at that location. He died of an apparent gunshot wound, police said.
The Sheriff’s Office is in- vestigating the double homi- cide as it appears the incident occurred behind the shop- ping center, which is in the county. The victim at the hospital has been identified as Caleb Bowman. The sec-

As the investigation con- tinued, detectives identified 17-year-old Joe S. Cler- juste, of Bradenton, as a suspect in the double homi- cide. Detectives have ob- tained warrant for his arrest.

Man Gets Nearly 20 Years For Possession Of Gun
Police Search For
Last week, a U. S. District judge sentenced a Tampa man to nearly 20 years in prison. The court also ordered him to forfeit the firearm used in the offense.
Judge Elizabeth A. Ko- vachevich sentenced Regi- nald Hollie,a.k.a. Reginald Bedford, 35, of Tampa to 19 years and 7 months in federal prison. Hollie was found guilty by a jury on April 25, 2018.
According to testimony presented at trial, on the evening of September 23, and into the early morning hours of September 24, 2017, a friend of Hollie’s was ejected from a bar in Ybor City by the establishment’s security team. Hollie allegedly became angry, obtained a firearm, re-
