‘Stop The Violence And Unity Rally’ To Be Held At Park
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
A local man, shocked by the recent violent deaths of three young Tampa men will hold a “Stop The Violence and Unity Rally” on Satur- day, May 27th. The event will take place from 12 noon until sunset at Temple Crest Park, 8116 N. 37th Street.
Apostle Cornelius Hamilton, of True Prosper- ity Evangelist Outreach said, “God has placed this on my heart to have this rally. We have got to stop the violence,
KHANDO KERR
especially among ourselves. “If Black Lives Matter,
then we have to start with ourselves and in our own community and stop the vio- lence. We have to stop this division among ourselves and because it is taking lives.”
Apostle Hamilton spoke of the deaths of Cur- tis Thomas, Katwon Jones, Khando “Chip Star” Kerr, and Monte Irving, all who died vio- lently in the last month.
Kerr was killed on May 17th, at 1509 E. 128th Avenue. Police arrested 26-year-old Kadeem Dareem Archibald and charged him with second-degree murder earlier this week.
“We are inviting the fam- ilies of those who have lost loved ones to come out and join us. We are losing our people to violence and losing our people to the system, and it has to stop.”
He further stated that fu- neral services for Kerr are incomplete and there will be
a fundraiser to help with his burial.
Apostle Hamilton said he is asking members of other churches and members of the community who want the violence to stop to come out and get involved. “We need help to make this a suc- cess.”
He further said he se- lected the Temple Crest Park because it is a neutral loca- tion and there shouldn’t be any problems about neigh- borhoods.
The event is being hosted by True Prosperity Evangel- ist Outreach. Anyone wish- ing additional information or who would like to help with the event can contact Apos- tle Hamilton at (813) 965- 7796.
