Irma Power Outages: Thousands Still Without Power In Tampa Bay Area
More than 3.1 million Floridians are without power as of Thursday morning, ac- cording to the Florida Division of Emergency Management. That’s 29 percent of our popu- lation. Here in the Tampa Bay area, over 800,00 homes are without power.
Crews have been working around the clock to restore power. It’s a massive and diffi- cult undertaking with crews working long hours in the hot Florida sunshine.
Here’s a look at the power outage totals:
TECO
91,074 without power (87.4% of customers have power)
Duke Energy
Duke Energy has put out a list of updated county-by- county estimated restoration times:
Western portion of service areas, including Pasco and Pinellas Counties, should be
restored by midnight on Fri- day.
Central and northern areas, including Citrus, Her- nando and Polk Counties, should be restored by mid- night on Sunday.
Pinellas County – 186,404 without power, Esti- mated restoration time: Sep. 15 at midnight
Pasco County – 44,742 without power. Estimated
restoration time: Sep 15 at midnight
Polk County – 28,917 without power. Estimated restoration time: Sep 17 at midnight
Citrus County – 14,685 without power. Estimated restoration time: Sep 17 at midnight
Hernando County – 3,617 without power. Esti- mated restoration time: Sep 17
