Police Search For
Two Sought
One Man Dead, One Injured In Shooting

Police are currently investi- gating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured. The shooting took place in St. Petersburg.
According to police, officers responded to shots being fired in the 4200 block of 14th Av- enue, South. When officers ar- rived, they discovered a man critically injured from a gun- shot wound. He was trans- ported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. Police have identified him as 20-year-old Christo- pher Miller.
Police also found a second man, later identified as 53- year-old John Walker.
  Detectives are currently searching for a gunman who injured two people last week- end. The shooting took place at the Gentlemen’s Club, 4218 E. 7th Avenue.
According to police, Lavon B. Rowells, 33, a bouncer at the club, went outside to break up a fight between Henry Norton, Jr., 28, and the unidentified man.
As Rowells attempted to intervene, the suspect pro- duced a handgun and shot both Rowells and Norton in the back. Rowells was transported to a local hospital after police arrived at the scene. Norton was trans- ported to the emergency room by private vehicle before police arrived.
After the shooting, the sus- pect fled the club on foot. He is described as a Black man, about 5’10” tall with short hair, and a thin build.

vehicle, possibly a Dodge Dart is a “vehicle of interest.” It was seen in the area near the club after the shooting.

Walker had been shot about a block away. He was trans- ported to a local hospital, where he was treated. His in- juries were not considered life- threatening.
No arrests have been made, and police are continuing their investigation into the shooting.
   The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two men in connection with the theft of cell phones. The phones were taken from the Verizon Retail Store, 15324 Dale Mabry Highway, on April 5th.
According to police, at around 5 p.m., two unknown men entered the business and grabbed four phones that were tethered on a display stand. They forcibly ripped the phones from the tethers and ran.
The first suspect is de- scribed as a Black man in his mid 20s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He has dark skin and a beard.
The second suspect is also Black and in his mid 20s. He has a medium build, is about 6 feet tall and has a dark com- plexion.
Verizon personnel told de- tectives that their company has experienced similar style thefts statewide and the suspects match descriptions given in other thefts.

Police Investigate Suspicious Package
 Man Arrested In Pipe Bomb Explosion
Tampa Police responded to an East Tampa school after re- ceiving a report of a suspicious package. They later deter- mined that the package did not present any danger.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers re- sponded to Carver Exceptional Center, 2934 E. Hillsborough Avenue. When they arrived, in an abundance of caution, the school was evacuated. Police also closed a portion of E.
Hillsborough Avenue.
After two hours, the Tampa
Police Bomb Squad deter- mined that the package did not pose a threat. The package con- tained several small anti-theft devices.
The package was located on the steps of the school when employees reported to work Thursday morning. At the time, police received the call at 7:19 a.m., none of the students had arrived at school yet.
  The Tampa Police arrested a 60-year-old man in connec- tion with the explosion of a pipe bomb. The incident took place Wednesday at 1018 E. Columbus Drive.
According to police, offi- cers responded to an apparent pipe bomb around 4:25 p.m. There were no injuries re- ported as a result of the explo- sion.
During the investigation, police obtained information that led them to Joseph David Caltagirone, of Tampa. Detectives learned that the bomb exploded in the backyard of the home where Caltagirone lives in the 1000 block of E. 17th Avenue.
During their search, police concentrated on a four-block search. When they reached

Caltagirone’s home, they found the remains of a PVC pipe bomb outside the house and in the backyard.
He was charged with mak- ing, possessing, throwing, placing projecting or discharg- ing a destructive device. The investigation is continuing.
