 Receives MVP
Alexander Gustafsson
Chants In
To Reclaim Title
Chicago
Seventeen months, one failed drug test and a storm of negative headlines later, Jon Jones is still the UFC light heavyweight king and best of all-time.
Jones (23-1, 1 NC) was able to block out all of the talk regarding his drug history to finish Alexander Gustafs- son via third-round TKO in a rematch of their thrilling 2013 title classic. Jones claimed the vacant 205-pound title that was relinquished Thurs- day by heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
The 31-year-old Jones, who was heavily criticized for the UFC's decision to move Saturday's UFC 232 card on just six days' notice from Las Vegas to The Forum in Ingle- wood following an irregularity in his Dec. 9 drug test, imme- diately called out his most heated rival after the fight.

  DERRICK ROSE
Fans at the United Center showered Derrick Rose with “MVP!” chants during his re- turn to the place he called home for seven seasons.
Rose last played for the Chicago Bulls in 2016. How- ever, he still receives love when he comes back to the Windy City, and Wednesday was no different. During the Bulls’ game against the Min- nesota Timberwolves, Rose received chants of “MVP!” while at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
John Wall Reportedly Considering Season-Ending Surgery On Heel
JOHN WALL
John Wall is considering undergoing season-ending surgery on his left heel.
Wall has missed some games this month due to pain in his left heel. He did not par- ticipate in shootaround or the Washington Wizards’ game on Friday due to it, and he went to see a specialist on Saturday. The surgery would keep him out 6-8 months.
The 28-year-old is averag- ing 20.7 points, 8.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game this sea- son. His Wizards have been a major disappointment, going 13-23. Wall has lashed out at his head coach, leading to dis- cipline, and he’s faced accusa- tions of partying too much during the rough year.
Having surgery now might be the best strategy for Wall amid a lost season for the Wiz- ards, that way he can be close to ready for the start of train- ing camp next season.

heavyweight title for the fourth time (he also briefly held the interim title in 2016) after being stripped of the 205-pound crown a record three times due to discipli- nary and drug suspensions.
In his first fight since knocking out Cormier in their July 2017 rematch, only for the fight to be ruled a no contest after Jones failed a test for a banned steroid, Jones largely avoided the slugfest that was his decision win over Gustafsson in their first meeting.
Alabama-Clemson Set For Jan 7th, Get Ready For Part 5
Before Alabama-Clemson IV is even played, know that part five of college football's epic championship series al- ready is in production. The game will be played next Monday, January 7th, at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
The top-ranked Crimson Tide and No. 2 Tigers will meet for the fourth straight year in the College Football Playoff, and third time in the championship game, on Jan. 7 in Santa Clara, California. With quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence in the fold for next season, go ahead and pencil Alabama and Clemson in for the 2019 title game, too. Next year it will be played in New Orleans, so the travel will be easier for the fans.
Parity is for the rest of col- lege football. Over the last four seasons, Georgia is the only team other than Ala- bama and Clemson to win a College Football Playoff game.
Fans can argue about which teams should be three and four in the playoff rank- ings just like this year — as if it matters. Want to expand the playoff to eight teams? Fine. The final two will still be Alabama and Clemson. This season the Crimson Tide and Tigers started the season Nos. 1and2intheAPTop25,and they will likely finish that way. And then in August, they will start next season that way, again.
Alabama (14-0) and Clem- son (14-0) are in a league of their own.
