The Closet Door Is Always Open
S ometimes I sit back and wonder what happened to the world's sense of humor? There was a time when a per- son could light-heartedly joke about anything and, judging by the silly way the crack was delivered, everyone knew that
there was no malice intent. Unfortunately, it's not like that anymore. Any remark that comes off as even remotely po- litically incorrect has the po- tential of creating a torch-carrying-mob ready to set fire to everything the re-
mark maker holds dear.
The most recent example
of this occurred earlier this week when talk show host Wendy Williams was slammed for making, what were considered, disparaging remarks about gay men. On her show Williams said that gay men should stop wearing heels and dresses because, no matter how hard they try, they will never be women or look as good as women in that type of feminine attire (I'm para- phrasing).
Being that a large portion of Williams' fan base is part of the LGBT community, it seemed obvious that the host
was simply teasing some of her flamboyantly dressed audience members. But that didn't stop the backlash.
Williams didn't say she hated gays. She didn't con- demn cross dressing. She did- n't even say that she disapproved of the lifestyle.
She just stated that a man, regardless of what he wears, will never be a woman. And, personally, I didn't find any- thing wrong with her state- ment.
There is nothing hair, makeup, butt injections, man- icured nails or a shaved Adam's apple can do to over- compensate for the presence of oversized hands, feet and the fact that he was born with the XY chromosome. But, of course, that's not the issue.

     The Cliffhanger
merica is on fire. The bad guys have surrounded
Marshal Matt Dillon and are pushing him and Chester to a steep cliff and certain death. The music is building, drums are pounding. What’s to be done? Who will save America?
The Democratic posse is in hot pursuit. But for some strange reason, they keep shooting at each other instead of at the villain. Meanwhile, their true adver- sary wears a sneer that resembles Oil-Can Harry’s ugliest grin . . . a throw-back sneer of the Teflon Don.
For the first time in a long time, CNN reporters sound nervous as previously front-row Democratic presidential candidates fall back in the dust.
One-by-one, they fall... Biden, Warren, Sanders, etc., and out of nowhere a voice seems to scream, “The success of the Democratic Party candidates rely on several groups, foremost among them is the Black voter.
Say what? Did we hear correctly? Undoubtedly, we did! History bears it out, going back to the election of JFK. Suddenly, we hear the pounding of familiar- sounding hooves . . . like Buffalo soldiers chasing Geronimo . .. as hooves of horses ridden by Black rid- ers, this time Black voters, come to the rescue.
Could it be true, what the polls say, that many Dem- ocratic candidates look hopefully to the Black vote? We believe so. Therefore, Black voters take to your saddles. America needs saving!
