Man Found Guilty Of Killing Girlfriend

Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Virginia Griffin- Roberts of Tampa, who passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 will be held Tuesday, April 12 at 11 a. m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Kevin Well, Sr., officiating. The inter- ment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Virginia was born on January 5, 1936 in Bain- bridge, GA, to the late Frank Griffin, Sr. and Cleotha Griffin.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, William H. Roberts, Sr.; parents, Frank Griffin, Sr. and Cleotha; son, Larry B. Griffin; and 4 brothers, Earnest Griffin, Frank Griffin, Jr., Willie B. Grif- fin and Adolphus Griffin.
Virginia leaves to cher- ish her memories with: 2 daughters, Patricia Grif- fin, Tampa, and Beverly D. Roberts of Houston, TX; 2 sons, William H. Roberts, Jr. (Charlene) of Maryland, and Tony R. A jury found a Polk County man guilty of killing his girl- friend with a vehicle last week. Rushawn Cooper is scheduled to be sentenced May 11, 2016.
According to court docu- ments, Rushawn Cooper and his girlfriend, Ms. Cherish Johnson, 22, became engaged in an altercation in December 2014. The argument was the re- sult of Ms. Johnson allegedly searching for text messages be- tween Cooper and another woman.
They were in the parking lot of their apartment complex when the argument took place.
Ms. Johnson reportedly got out of the SUV Cooper was driving. Police said Cooper then

got behind the wheel of the vehi- cle and drove after Ms. John- son striking her. The vehicle was traveling at more than 30 m.p.h. on impact, police said.
Ms. Johnson died of her in- juries.

Man Faces Sexual Battery Charges
Teenager Arrested In Three Auto Theft Cases
On Thursday, Pinellas Park Police detectives concluded a two-day surveillance detail that ended with the arrest of Ed- ward Vazquez and the recov- ery of three stolen vehicles, two guns, and over a thousand dol- lars in cash.
Vazquez, who is well known by law enforcement, was ar- rested after a crime spree au- thorities said lasted several days

where he was linked and seen in three different stolen vehicles.
A St. Petersburg man is facing several counts of sexual battery after authorities said he had in- appropriate sexual activity with a teenaged girl over a two-year period.
Andrew Hernandez, 28, is facing six counts of sexual bat- tery and one count of lewd and lascivious molestation.
According to detectives, an in- vestigation began this month after the 15-year-old victim told a family member the inappropri- ate sexual activity had taken place on several occasions, at
various locations in Pinellas County, starting in 2013 when she was 13.
Deputies
said on each occasion, Hernandez
had custodial
authority over the victim.
Hernandez was arrested Thursday and is being held in jail on the charges.
