Organizer Discusses Entertainment For
‘Jazz’n At The Ritz’ Event
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Music is an integral part of many events designed to draw attendees. And the up- coming ‘Jazz’n At The Ritz’ event is no exception.
Nearly two years after presenting the first of its kind event, members of the Posi- tive Images Committee are preparing a repeat perform- ance. Marvin Knight, one of the organizers said the first was well received by the community and people have been asking when it was going to be repeated.
This event, slated for Sun- day, April 30th, is in answer to those requests. It will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., at The Ritz Ybor, 1503 E. 7th Avenue.
Scott Hardy, Co-Chair- man of the Entertainment Committee said, “We’re look- ing forward to hosting a great event with wonderful enter- tainment. We are all coming

together for a good cause, giving back to the commu- nity. We are holding this fundraiser to give financial aid to a local school.”
Hardy said some of the entertainment already on board includes: 2 Close, C- Train with Kevin Wilder, The Beat Down Band, and The Mighty, Good, & Strong.
Hardy, who is also a local entertainer, said he an-
ticipates those who attend will have an evening of relax- ation and good music.
Hardy moved to Tampa 9 years ago and currently serves as a Union Represen- tative for a healthcare organ- ization known as the 1199 SEIU.
The Positive Images Com- mittee presented the first ‘Jazz’n At The Ritz’ in Oc- tober 2015. It was deemed successful because more than $60,000 was raised to pro- vide assistant to St. Peter Claver Catholic School.
The funds were used to help the school make repairs, buy equipment, and supplies.
St. Peter Claver Catholic School has been in existence for more than 100 years. It has historically educated African American students in elementary school.
For additional informa- tion about the event contact Marvin Knight at (813) 453-5690; or Tom For- ward at (813) 334-5705.
Members of the Tampa community will have an op- portunity to address legal is- sues with attorneys this weekend.
The free Ask-A-Lawyer event will take place at the Seminole Heights Library, 4711 N. Central Avenue, on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Participants in the event will be assisted on a first- come, first-serve basis.
Participants will be asked to sign statements verifying that they understand that the interviewing attorney will not be representing them.
Attorneys will conduct one-on-one consultations with residents.
The sessions will last up to 15 minutes. Attorneys partic- ipating in the event have ex-
pertise in many areas of the law and can provide guidance and answer questions.
The areas in which the consultations will cover in- cludes: real estate and fore- closure, landlord and tenant issues, employment, wills and estates, bankruptcy, collec- tion defense, and consumer rights issues.
The event is being spon- sored by the Florida Bar Con- sumer Protection Law Committee.
