Mother Of Slain Teen Asks Someone ‘To Come Forward’
The mother of a teenager who died last weekend, is ask- ing the community to come forward with information. The shooting took place shortly after midnight Sunday in Cur- tis Hixon Park, 600 N. Ashley Street.
Antonio “Jay Jay” McGuire, Jr., was fatally wounded after shots were fired in the park. Police received several calls of shots being fired in the park. When officers arrived, they discovered that McGuire had been struck by gunfire. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Ms. Ashley Lynn, mother of McGuire said, “I just want the person who did this to come forward. There were just too many people out there for someone not to know what happened.”
Known as “Jay Jay,” McGuire was Ms. Lynn’s only child.
“He was really a good kid and he was really loved. He was just in the wrong place at

the wrong time,” she said.
A Tampa native, “Jay Jay” attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He was enrolled at Hillsborough High School at the time of his death. He was a senior, but wasn’t slated to
graduate this year.
A typical teenager, “Jay
Jay” grew up in the homes of Ms. Annie Kwarten and his mother. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and loved
to play football. His future plans were to pursue a career in the sport, his mother said.
According to the Tampa Police Department, nearly 100 people gathered at the park shortly after 9:30 p.m. Satur- day night. The group caused a disturbance and several fights took place.
Shortly after midnight, shots were fired and McGuire, the 18-year-old vic- tim, was injured while near the east side of the park.
Police believe the suspect and the victim were part of the crowd. The shooting does not appear to be random.
Detectives are asking any- one with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

3-Year-Old Recovers After Being Hurt In Drive-By Shooting

Police are currently investi- gating a shooting that left a three-year-old injured. It took place Tuesday (May 12) night in Temple Terrace.
It was the second drive-by shooting that police responded to that day. The first shooting took place around 9:35 p., in the area of Grove Hill Road and Shirley Drive. The caller told police that an unknown sus- pect shot several times in their direction and fled in an un- known type vehicle.
Less than two hours later, police received another call and responded to the 8600 block of Boardwalk Trail Drive. They were also told that a 3-
year-old child had been in- jured. The child was identified in a local newspaper as Saniya Terilus. She is in stable con- dition.
When officers arrived at the residence, the child was transported to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition.
Police are searching for a white, late model Jeep that may have been involved in the shootings. Anyone with infor- mation is asked to contact the Temple Terrace Police Depart- ment at (813) 989-7110.

Woman, Boy, 5, Drown In Houston Home Of Ex-Rays Carl Crawford

a 5-year-old
boy drowned Saturday af- ternoon in the backyard pool
of former Tampa Bay Rays and LA Dodger Carl Crawford's home.
Houston Police and Fire de- partments were called about 2:40 p.m. on reports of a drowning at a home on the 1400 block of Mans- field in north Houston. The resi- dence is owned by Carl Crawford, a former baseball player for the Rays, Dodgers and was reponsible for the success of star rapper Megan Thee Stal- lion, according to property and business records.
A 5-year-old boy was swim- ming in a pool on the property when he started having trouble breathing, and a 25-year-old woman jumped in to try to save the boy, said Jodi Silva, a Hous- ton Police spokeswoman.
The woman and boy were unre- sponsive when they were trans- ported to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, Silva said. They were later declared dead, Silva said.
