Breonna Taylor Police Shooting Gets Special Prosecutor
Georgia Officials Investigate Note Left At
Ahmaud Arbery Memorial;
LOUISVILLE, KY — Daniel Cameron, the Attor- ney General for the State of Kentucky announced on Wednesday that his office will serve as the special prosecutor “in the matter involving the death of Breonna Taylor.“
Taylor was killed on March 13, when police executed a no- knock warrant at the home she shared with her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.
In a lawsuit filed by Attor- ney Benjamin Crump on behalf of Taylor’s family, Louisville police forced their way into Taylor’s home, sur- prising the woman and her boyfriend who thought the of- ficers were burglars.
Louisville Metro Police De- partment contends that the of- ficers knocked on the door several times and “announced their presence as police who were there with a search war- rant.” Lt. Ted Eidem went on to say that officers “were
times and died. Walker was arrested, and charged with as- sault and attempted murder on a police officer.
In a statement, Kentucky governor Andy Beshear called the reports about Tay- lor’s death “troubling.” He said that Taylor’s family and the public-at-large “deserve the full facts regarding her death.” Beshear called for the Attorney General’s office to “carefully review the results of the initial investigation to ensure justice is done at a time when many are concerned that justice is not blind.” The offi- cers were not wearing body cams to verify their story.
Attorney Crump said at a press conference, “Breonna Taylor was sleeping while Black in the sanctity of our own home.” He added, “We cannot continue to allow them to unnecessarily and justifi- ably kill our Black women and escape any accountability.”

The unsigned note was sim- ple, but haunting: “Ahmaud — I am so sorry. I should have stopped them. I am so sorry.”
Left at a memorial for Ah- maud Arbery, the 25-year- old Georgia man ambushed and killed by two white men in February, the note instantly provoked questions. Arbery family attorney Lee Merritt circulated it Wednesday on Twitter, writing, “We need to discover who left this note!”
According to CNN, the Georgia Bureau of Investiga- tion (GBI) identified the per- son who wrote the note on Thursday, saying the person who wrote it was not con- nected to Arbery’s killing, and was just “expressing their condolences for Arbery’s death.”
The GBI said it received nu- merous tips and inquiries re- lated to the note, as interest in Arbery’s case remains high after months of inaction by local authorities.
Arbery’s killing sparked outrage internationally after a video released last week of his death went viral. The video

showed Arbery, a former high school football player, running through the Satilla Shores neighborhoods near Brunswick, GA, until his path is obstructed by two armed white men in a white pickup truck: Travis McMichael, armed with a rifle, and his fa- ther, Gregory McMichael, who stood on the bed of the truck with a pistol.
Arbery and Travis McMichael briefly scuffled before Travis unloaded three shots, killing Arbery in the middle of the street.
