Woman Charged With Brutal Murder Of Elderly Man
Last week, detectives charged a woman with murdering her elderly neighbor. She is currently housed at the Hillsborough County Jail.
According to the Tampa Police, 21-year-old Sarah Kynay Martinez is being held on charges of first-de- gree murder, armed burglary, and at- tempted robbery with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $300,000.
On September 2, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to 2302 E. Liberty Street for a wellness check on 74-year-old Eddie Quezada. They were responding to a request from a concerned neighbor. The offi- cers found Quezada inside the home, deceased.
He suffered numerous lacerations to his upper body. The weapon used was later determined to be a machete.
The investigation led detectives to Ms. Martinez, his neighbor. Detec- tives learned that she had borrowed
money from Quezada in the past and had asked him for help in obtaining employment.
Detectives said that during the in- terview, Ms. Martinez gave incon- sistent explanations during questioning. However, she admitted to committing the murder. The mo- tive for the attack remains unclear.
She was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m., last Thursday.
