Break The Family Curse
“You can't choose who your family will be, but you can choose how it will be.”
~Wes Fessler
mpowered Greet-
ings. It's been more than 8 years ago since I've spoken on generational curses. Since eight is the Bib- lical number that represents a new beginning, I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about breaking genera- tional curses, so that your family can have a new begin- ning.
From a secular world per- spective, when you think about generational curses it just appears that you're just having family problems.
However, I want you to stop and think about why some people, or group of peo- ple never seem to get ahead in life. Why are they always broke, busted and disgusted?
No matter how good of a job they get, they could never seem to advance. They get the job, but can't keep it. Or what about the people whom every time you see them, they are sick or have some type of ail- ment in their bodies?
Maybe, you know some- body that was addicted to drugs or alcohol. And if you stop and think about it, their aunt was addicted to drugs. Their mother or father was addicted to drugs and now they are headed down the same path.
Consider those families
where the granddaddy, the dad and his son have all been in jail at one point or another. Oh, and what about the young girl who had her first child without being married, but so did her mom and grandmother.
Yeah, then there are those who got married simply be- cause they were pregnant, but if you look into the family you'll find that so did their parents and grandparents.
Question? Have you ever wondered why the same pat- tern seems to keep playing out in your family or the fam- ily of others?
Well, I want to let you know that there has been an adversary assigned to fami- lies many, many generations ago. Before you were ever conceived he has been there to taunt, torment, oppress and distract the family as a whole and the individuals in the family from completing their God-given assignment on earth.
And, if we would be hon- est, quite frankly, it appears that he has been successful the majority of the time.
Today, I want to encour- age you that the cycle of the enemy running havoc in your family can be broken. This is a spiritual battle where some- body opened the door. But the door can be closed by going into spiritual warfare against your adversary. Real quick you need to:
1. Fully surrender your life to Christ.
2. Identify the areas of transgression that have taken place in yourself or your par- ents, grandparents, etc.
3. Confess those sins of your ancestors
4. Forgive them for their sins.
5. Break any ungodly soul ties
6. Break the curse line of the adversary assigned to your family.
7. Command the adver- sary to leave you in the name of Jesus.
When you have chosen a life in Christ and the family curse is broken, your family will be positioned to walk in perpetual blessings for thou- sands of generations.
In other words, not only will you be blessed, but every- body connected to you will be blessed, too! Isn't that won- derful?

Obama Boulevard In Tampa, Florida
on’t tell us it can’t happen here. If it could happen
in busy downtown Los Angeles, then it could cer- tainly happen in busy downtown Tampa stretching into the hinterlands of Hillsborough County. We’re talking about what happened recently when the Los Angeles City Council introduced and successfully passed a mo- tion to name one of its major highways “Obama Boule- vard.”
Said Mayor Eric Garcia, “We’re thrilled that Ange- lenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President Barack Obama when travelling across L. A.”
The Sentinel congratulates Los Angeles, but wishes not to be outdone, and therefore, suggests officially that if the City of Los Angeles can honor America’s first Black president, then the State and the City of cigars and Cuban sandwiches can do it, too.
And why not? After what seemed an endless strug- gle, Tampa was able to overcome its fears and preju- dices and to name one of its major streets “Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.” We already have a thorough- fare christened in the name of President John F. Kennedy. Currently, two major streets (Nebraska Av- enue and Florida Avenue) beg for rename redemption. Our bet is either street would do us proud by being named President Barack Obama Boulevard.
So, we lay our dream at the ears of the State of Florida, the Tampa City Council and Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. What could possibly be the objection . . . a changing of street signs or mailing addresses . . . an overrun of fiscal alloca- tions? Bah!
Instead, we stand by our original argument: If Los Angeles can have an Obama Boulevard then we can, too. Start the petitions rolling!
