At 10 years of age, Rev. Dr. Shafter E. Scott was baptized at Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Tampa, FL, under Rev. J. W. Rhodes, Pastor.
Serving people at an early age was a result of his par- ents, the late Deacon Harold and Deaconess Lucile Scott.
In 1959, Mr. Robert Saunders, The Executive Secretary for NAACP, and
classmate of Mrs. Lucile Scott, asked Rev. Dr. Shafter Scott to work with him and join the Youth Coun- cil NAACP, Tampa Branch.
Also, in 1959 the Rev. Dr. Shafter E. Scott was Vice President of the Student Body at Howard W. Blake High School. He became President of the Student Body in 1960. During his tenure as a leader of the Student Body, he partic- ipated in The Woolworth Sit- In, as a "voice" for the people.

• September 1960 he enrolled into College at Tuskegee Uni- versity; Graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science De- gree in Building Construction. • 1962 while in College, he met Miss Evalina Lewis, later married her on July 30, 1964. • 1965 joined the United States Army 82nd Airbourne Divi- sion and departed in 1967 as Second Lieutenant.
• 1977 Ministry begins with a Progress Village Bible Study held at the County Building, while employed as Executive Manager of Hillsborough County Housing Department. • 1981 he was ordained as a Deacon.
Most importantly, in 1983 while traveling North on Hwy. 301, he heard the voice of HEAVEN, "Shafter Preach my Word."
In 1986, he was ordained to the position of Assistant Pastor at Greater Bethel Mis- sionary Baptist Church, Tampa.
May 1996, Rev. Dr. Shafter E. Scott answered the call to become Pastor of St.
