   Winners Declared In 8th Monthly Shuffleboard Tournament

On August 30th, mem- bers of the local shuffle- board organization held their monthly competition. At the end of the tourna- ment, some repeat winners were once again victorious. The event was the 8th con- secutive monthly tourna- ment held.
The competitors repre- sented three different groups: the Lee Davis Seinors, the Ella Seniors, and the Jazzy Seniors. This month, the first place win- ners were Linda Cotney and Connie Bowen. The gift cards for second place were presented to Quency Jefferson and Katherine Palmer. All of these ladies are repeat winners.
The competition was held at the Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue.

the winners of the competi- tion. This month, the spon- sor was Dr. Asia Crawford, of Health Mat- ters Pharmacy.
In addition to the win- ners, other participants in the Shuffleboard Competi-
tion this month included:
Ruby Speight, Earlene Cohen, Mary Wright, Irma Jackson, Shirley Thomas, Estelle Acree, Lorene Anderson, Helen Rouse, and Ruby Epps.
After the tournament, the participants enjoyed re- freshments that included pizza.
The teams consist of sen- ior citizens from throughout Hillsborough County who enjoy remaining active. Steve Scott, Director and Trainer, invites any seniors who wish to learn the game to contact him.
Scott teaches Shuffle- board on Mondays and Fri- days from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Com- munity Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., and he holds training classes at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Community Centers.
On Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, Scott teaches the game at the Lee Davis Neighborhood Service Center.
