Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Complete

49ers To Win Super Bowl LIV
Super Bowl MVP
San Francisco was rolling in Super Bowl LIV.
The 49ers’ plan to bludg- eon the Chiefs into submis- sion was working for three and a half quarters. The de- fensive line was feasting on Kansas City’s offensive line, they were stringing together long scoring drives, and they appeared to have Patrick Mahomes completely flus- tered.
Then Patrick Mahomes turned back into Patrick Mahomes.
With 7:17 left in the fourth quarter, trailing 20-10, Ma- homes found wide receiver Tyreek Hill wide open 44 yards down the field. A few plays later, Mahomes threw a strike to Travis Kelce for a one yard touchdown that cut the 49ers’ lead to three points.
After a quick three and out by the 49ers, Mahomes completed five straight passes, including a 38-yard bomb to Sammy Watkins, and threw a touchdown to running back Damien Williams that gave Kansas City a 24-20 lead, which they never relinquished en route to a 31-20 win. Mahomes, who was named the MVP of Super Bowl LIV, completed 26-of-42 passes for 286 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
While the Chiefs have been storming back from deficits all postseason long, this one didn’t feel as certain as their comeback wins over the Texans and Titans. The 49ers appeared to be just too much for the Chiefs as they repeatedly knocked down Mahomes and made him run around the backfield like a madman.
But the otherworldly tal- ent of the 2018 Most Valuable Player prevailed. It was a re- lentless, gutsy performance

Kansas City Chiefs quarter- back Patrick Mahomes was named MVP of Super Bowl LIV after throwing two touch- downs in the fourth quarter and rushing for another one earlier in a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
At 24 years and 138 days old, Mahomes is the youngest MVP in Super Bowl history. Legendary running back Emmitt Smith held the previous record, winning the award at 24 years and 260 days of age while playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Bowl IV.
Mahomes finished his
Super Bowl debut 26-for-42 for 286 yards with two touch- downs and two interceptions. He rushed for 29 yards and a score.
Drafted 10th overall out of Texas Tech in 2017, Ma- homes already has an MVP award, a Lombardi Trophy, and a Super Bowl MVP award on his resume.
on the biggest stage by the best quarterback in the league. The Chiefs needed the future of their franchise to be the man in crunch time and he absolutely delivered.
Mahomes was on a rollercoaster of performance throughout the game. He scored a touchdown on the ground in the first quarter, but was completely shut down until he caught fire at the end of the game. Part of the reason the Chiefs were even in a hole was because of Mahomes. He threw two brutal interceptions and was rattled by the constant pres- sure that the 49ers defensive line was putting on him.
But he composed himself and remembered that he is unequivocally the baddest man playing quarterback in the world. We’ve all seen Ma- homes pull off amazing stunts and highlights throughout his young career, but this game required him to dig deep against an elite de- fense on the toughest stage possible.
He grew up right before our eyes as the game pro- gressed. He was composed at the perfect time after spend- ing the majority of the game
just trying to survive.
