University Area CDC Unveils Computer Lab And PEACE Sculpture
University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation) celebrated the opening and unveiling last Wednesday of two new cre- ative place-making projects: a computer lab with a new mural at Mort Recreation Cen- ter and a PEACE sculpture.
On April 14th at Mort Recreation Center, University Area CDC revealed a computer lab stocked with computers that, thanks to a generous donor, have been completely refurbished by eSmart Recy- cling. These computers first will be utilized for Prodigy® Cultural Arts art design classes over the summer. Future plans for the lab, located at 1815 E. 148th Ave., Lutz, FL 33549, in- clude public use of the com- puters.

tures and inspirational words such as compassion, solidarity, kindness and unity. The color- ful mural was designed by artist Brittany Ford, and painted by youth members of Prodigy® Cultural Arts.

Also on Wednesday, a large and colorful new sculpture of letters spelling out PEACE was unveiled at University Area Community Park, 14015 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33613.

This eye-catching message of positivity joins another on the property that spells out HOPE. Both were designed by artist Junior Polo and painted by residents from the area and by youth members of Prodigy® Cultural Arts.
