died
The Giants said Mc- Covey died "peacefully" after battling "ongoing health issues."
"San Francisco and the entire baseball community lost a true gentleman and legend, and our collective hearts are broken," Giants president and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement. "Willie was a beloved figure throughout his playing days and in retirement. He will be deeply missed by the many people he touched.
Nicknamed "Stretch" because of his 6-foot-4

frame, McCovey teamed with Willie Mays to create a formidable 1-2 punch in the Giants' lineup for the 13 seasons the two played to- gether.
McCovey retired in 1980 with the most home runs ever by a left-handed hitter in the National League, a mark that stood until 2001 when Barry Bonds, an- other Giant, broke it.

The Green Bay Packers have traded free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to theWashing- ton Redskins for a 2019 fourth-round draft pick.

Retires Rather Than Keep
Playing For The Raiders
Former Giants and Cardi- nals defensive back Domini- que Rodgers-Cromartie has announced his retire- ment today.
Rodgers-Cromartie
had played on defense in every Raiders game this sea- son until last Sunday, when his snap count was reduced to zero and he was limited to special teams for who knows why. Head coach Jon Gru- den has made a habit of this with his defensive unit.
Defensive back Gareon Conley, who had only been on special teams in Week 6's

game, took the bulk of the snaps against the Colts in Week 8. The mix-and-match approach has been ineffective all season.
