AIKENS
MS. BERTHA CALLOWAY
A Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Bertha Calloway of Tampa, who passed away Friday, Octo- ber 26, 2018, will be held Satur- day, November 3rd 2 p. m. at Holsey Temple CME Church, 3729 N. 15th Street, Pastor Anita Williams, with Min. Tommie Smith, eulogist.
Bertha Calloway was born to the late Aaron and Caldonia Cal- loway on Feb. 2, 1942 in Midway, Alabama. She was the youngest of 11 children. Bertha grew up and was educated in Midway, graduating from the historic Merritt High School, continuing to receive her Secretarial Certifi- cate from Tuskegee Institute.
After graduation, she became the secretary at Merritt High. She relocated to New York, where she continued her profes- sion as a secretary. She retired from The New York Board of Ed- ucation and relocated to Tampa, Florida in 2004.
Bertha began her spiritual journey at St. James CME in Midway at an early age. As she transitioned to different places, she always remained in a Chris- tian environment. Upon moving to Tampa, she established her membership at Holsey Temple CME, where she served faithfully as a member of the Senior Min- istry until her health failed.
After a lengthy illness, Bertha transitioned this life to a higher plane.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Aaron Calloway, JD Calloway, Willie Calloway and Charles Calloway; sisters, Susie Mae Christian, Lil- lie Bee Smith, Fannie Sims and Louise Calloway.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her niece, Chandra Cal- loway (Tampa); two sisters, Alice Palmer (Miami) and Ruth Davis (Sarasota); two sisters-in-law, Nancy Calloway (Sarasota) and Deborah Calloway (Chicago), a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.

MR. ROGER LEE EDDIE
MR. LEROY EARL GAY, SR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Leroy Earl Gay, Sr. of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, will be held Saturday, November 3rd, 2 p. m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Samuel Gay, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Leroy was born May 29, 1951 in Tallahassee, Florida. He accepted the Lord as his Savior during his 20s. Leroy enjoyed fishing, playing cards and he loved to build things and going to the Dog Track.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Parrish and brother, Tommy Henderson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories with: his spouse, Lorene Lewis; chil- dren, Greta Bake, Sheneda Scott (Sylvester), Michelle Lewis, Clifford Gay, Johnathan Gay, Malinda Jackson, Zackary Hunter of Panama City and Tyquils Moore; 26 grandchil- dren; 34 great-grandchildren; mother, Ronnie Mae Barron (Eddie, Sr.) of Tallahassee, Florida; brothers, Don Parrish of Atlanta, Georgia, Samuel Gay (Wanda), Theodore Hen- derson (June), Michael Hen- derson, Anthony Barron and Eddie Barron, Jr.; sisters, Glo- ria Gay (James) and Angela Barron; uncle, David Gay of Tallahassee, Florida; nieces, Vestria, Tameca, Jan, Talisha, Teresa, Tika, Jameria, Justice and Taiona; nephews, Joshua, Stephen, Samuel, Jr., Ivan, An- tonio, Marcus, Tramaine and Jamar; a host of cousins; best- friend, Jessie James Franklin (Louise); childhood friends, Henry Jones and Charles Sailor; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him.
The visitation will be at Aikens Funeral Home on Fri- day, November 2nd from 5 to 7 p. m.
The family will receive friends during the visitation. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.

MRS. LEILA MAE WALTERS LESTER
Celebration of Life for Mrs. Leila Mae Walters Lester of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on October 23, 2018, will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11 a. m. at New Hope M. B. Church, 3005 E. Ellicott St., Tampa, FL, with Pastor Larry J. Mouton, Jr., officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Leila Mae Walters Lester, af- fectionately known as “Shack” to her family, was born the eleventh of twelve siblings to Mr. Green and Annie Ruth Witchard Wal- ters, Sr., on March 18, 1934, in Byromsville, Dooley County, Georgia. The family eventually settled in Montezuma, GA, where she was educated in the public schools of Dooley County.
In the mid-1950’s she made Tampa, FL her home in the neigh- borhood of Ybor City and finally in the Tampa Heights area. She was widowed after suffering the loss of her husband and was the mother of six children. She worked various jobs throughout the Hillsborough County commu- nity, though her primary and most important job was being a mother to her children. She lived independently in her home be- fore being placed in a nursing fa- cility.
Leila Mae Walters Lester was preceded in death by: her par- ents, Green and Annie Walters, Sr.; her husband, Charles Lester, Sr.; her sons, Charles Lester, Jr., Harvey Lester, Sr., and Marion Brown; son-in-law, Min. Andrew Hill; her brothers, Anthony, Danny, Lloyd and Green Walters, Jr. of Akron, OH; her sisters, Al- venia McKenzie of St. Petersburg, FL; Willie Maude Lester of Mon- tezuma, GA; Willie Mae Simpson
of Atlanta, GA; Bertha Lee Hamilton of Tampa, FL; Maga- lene Fudge of Montezuma, GA; and Minnie Lee Oglesby, for- merly of Tampa, FL and Akron, Oh.; and several nieces and nephews.
Leila Mae Walters Lester heard her name and answered the call of her heavenly Father. She went home to rest on Octo- ber 23, 2018 in Tampa, Florida.
She leaves a legacy of life and a legacy of love, to mourn her passing and cherish her mem- ory: three children, Annie Ruth Hill, Sylvester Lester, and Wayne Sedgwick Lester; grand- children, Felicia LaShane Hill, Andre Hill, Angel Demetris Hill, Tarsheala Lester, Jeanell Goston Bagwell, Khalliah Tolbert, Har- vey Lester, Jr., Debarge Lester, Arrid Green, Akbar Jackson, Keisha Charmaine Donaldson, LaNiesha Chantrea Donaldson, Keneisha Lester, Joshua Lester, Frances Lester, Yasmine Lester, Bella Lester, Major Lester, Shamara Cruz, Anais Cruz, Jes- sica Leila Lester Torres, Wendi Vitalina Lester, Wayne Esteban Lester-Gomez, and Taylor Ann Fox; great-grandchildren, Fred- die Lee Martin, III, Van Eric Hymes, Jr., Meya MiShayla Hymes, Joshua Emanuel Perry, Adrian Jamir Jones, Willie Smi- ley, Jr., Khire Walton, Roddrick Walton, Ashley Garcia, Devon Goston, Jordan Lester, Anaya Jackson, Laurence Redfield, Jr., Khal’le Brown, Olaudah McCoy, Jr., Kevin McCoy, O’Sareya McCoy, Emilio Green, Arrid Green, II, Avonti Green, Angel Green, Ahmad Green, Zion Lester, and Christian Emmanuel Torres; sister, Lena Walters Reddick and sister-in-law, Gwen Walters of Akron, OH. She will also be missed by a host of loving nephews and nieces, and many other sorrowing relatives and friends too numerous to name, but who loved her just as much in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michi- gan, Illinois and California, Texas, New York and Austria.
The visitation will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5-7 p. m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p. m. The fam- ily and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. for the service.

        A Memorial Service for Mr. Roger Lee Eddie of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 peace- fully in his home, will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 10 a. m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Frank Wynn, Jr., officiating. The interment will follow.
He was born to the late Louis Dixon and Ruby Lee Eddie on September 8, 1950.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and 3 brothers, An- thony, Kelvin and Frank, Sr. and sister, Bonnie.
He is survived by: 1 brother, Learnis; 6 sisters, Joanne, Eartha, Anna, La’Monica, Deb- bie and Sheila. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends who love him dearly.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
