Derrick Rose's Attorney Wants Sexual Assault Lawsuit Thrown Out
The attorney for Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose denied an ac- cuser's claim that she was sex- ually assaulted and is asking for the civil complaint brought against Rose and two of his close friends to be thrown out, according to court documents filed last Thursday in Los An- geles.
The filing sheds new light on some of the details of the case, which was originally filed by the accuser on Aug. 26. Rose, through his lawyer, asserts in the new documents that the accuser is upset in part be- cause she was not reimbursed for a sex toy.
In the original civil com- plaint, Rose and his two friends are accused of gang raping the woman identified as Jane Doe and breaking into her residence in August 2013. In the new documents, Rose's lawyer asserts that the sexual contact was consensual, that the accuser exchanged friendly text messages with the

men after the incident, and that the accuser buzzed Rose and his friends into her com- plex. Rose's lawyer also is seeking for all legal fees to be paid back.
The latest revelations in the court case come on the same day it was announced that Rose suffered a left orbital fracture in practice and will have to undergo surgery Wednesday.

Kobe Bryant: 'I've Got Enough To Think About' Other Than Retirement
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Kobe Bryant will face the question on an almost daily basis over the next seven months.
Will this be his final NBA season?
It's the most dominant sto- ryline surrounding the team and Bryant, who at 37 is en- tering his 20th season with the Los Angeles Lakers, an NBA record for the most seasons a player has spent with one fran- chise. And it was the main topic Bryant faced time and again during the team's media day, held Monday at its prac- tice facility.
Bryant repeated the same message he has delivered all offseason, saying he has not made a decision and that he's not sure what will ultimately sway him one way or the other. Bryant has spent the past nine months recovering from a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, an injury that ended

IMAN SHUMPERT
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert will undergo right wrist surgery this week that is expected to sideline him for more than three months, the team announced Tuesday.
Shumpert suffered a rup- tured extensor carpi ulnaris sheath "several days" before the start of training camp, which opened up Tuesday, according to the team.
Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said Shumpert informed the team at Monday's media day about "latent sore- ness" he was experiencing in his wrist.
Shumpert, entering his fifth season, re-signed with the Cava- liers on a four-year, $40 million contract in July.
