Barry Bonds, Back In
CAM NEWTON AND MARCEL REED
MIAMI -- Aside from a week- long stint as a guest instructor with the San Francisco Giants two springs ago, Barry Bonds donned a major league uniform for the first time in nine years this week, slipping on the home whites of the Miami Marlins.
Speaking at an introductory news conference at Marlins Park on Saturday, the all-time home run king, drastically slimmed down from his playing days, said it felt "natural" to re- turn to the fields and batting cages of spring training and that he was excited to rejoin what he called the "fraternity" of major league players and coaches.
As for another fraternity,

Hall of Fame voters, he offered a little advice for when they next cast their ballots.
"God knows I'm a Hall of Famer," Bonds said.
Cam Newton visited for- mer Tennessee State standout cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who is back on campus using the Tigers weight room in Nashville to work out. Rodgers-Cromartie now plays for the New York Giants.
Rodgers-Cromartie and Newton became friends when Rodgers-Cromartie played at TSU (2005-08) with New- ton’s brother, Cecil, who was
an offensive lineman.

quarterback, fresh off his team's defeat in the Super Bowl, posted an Instagram photo of himself in a brightly colored coat and pointy, gold loafers.
Newton and Rodgers- Cromartie spent Saturday watching TSU coach Rod Reed’s son Marcel play in his youth league basketball game.

Stumps For Hall Of Fame
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Maybe it's still the afterglow of a Super Bowl win and MVP award, but all is right in the world for Denver Broncos line- backer Von Miller.
Miller said Thursday he thinks things will stay that way. In a phone interview, Miller said he believes the Broncos have the talent to repeat as Super Bowl winners, that a long-term contract will get done with the Broncos and that his mentor, DeMarcus Ware, will return for the 2016 season.
"It feels like I've been here before -- we talked about [win- ning the Super Bowl] so much in the locker room,'' Miller said. "At the table where we sit all the time, Emmanuel [Sanders], me, [Aqib]

Substance Abuse Violation

Gregory, 23, will miss the first four games of the 2016 season. The failed tests oc- curred during the 2015 season, not after, and an appeals process already has been com- pleted.
At last year's NFL scouting combine, Gregory tested pos- itive for marijuana, which put him in the league's drug pro- gram. Considered a first-round prospect out of Nebraska, he fell to the second round, where the Cowboys selected him with the 60th overall pick.
The Cowboys and Gregory agreed to have a personal han- dler with him during the sea- son to help him cope with issues related to anxiety.

Gregory failed three tests during the season in order to be sus- pended four games. It will cost him roughly $143,000 of his $608,406 base salary.
