Rally For Justice Held In Clearwater
A ‘Rally For Justice’ was held in Clearwater on Sunday, August 5, 2018, to protest the shooting death of Markeis McGlockton, 28, who was shot outside a convenience store about 3 weeks ago.
Hundreds from around the country attended the rally and many of them spoke to the family.
The accused shooter, Michael Drejka, 47, has invoked the ‘stand your ground law’ and at the time of the rally not been arrested. Civil rights activist, Rev. Al Sharpton was the featured invited guest. (Photographs by Julia Jackson)
Rev. Al Sharpton raised an offering for the children of Markeis McGlockton.
Atty. Benjamin Crump, attorney for the parents of Trayvon Martin, who is also representing the family of McGlock- ton attended the rally.
Elder Benjamin Adams, Jr. is the Senior Pastor/Teacher of St. John Primitive Baptist Church, Clearwater.
Minister Rebecca McWynn gave the prayer to begin the service.
Several persons traveled from Tampa to support the rally. Joseph W. J. Robinson was one of them.
Candidate for Governor, Chris King spoke to the audience.
Jeff Greene, candidate for Gover- nor, also spoke to the group.
Bishop Michelle B. Patty at- Tampa resident, Darele Campbell tended the rally. went to the rally.
Florida Gubernatorial candidates, Mayor Andrew Gillum and Gwen Graham were among the Democratic candidates to attend the rally.
Atty. Michele Rayner is the lawyer for the family of Markeis McGlockton.
