Browns Will Not Sign Dez Bryant Anytime Soon
DEZ BRYANT
Dez Bryant left Cleveland without a deal, and according to a new report, he won’t be getting one anytime soon.
The Browns have put wide receiver Dez Bryant on the back burner after the return of Josh Gordon to training camp, and do not intend to offer Bryant a deal anytime soon.
Bryant and the Browns did not come close to a deal during his visit, and while they will continue to monitor the situa- tion, it appears unlikely that he will play for them. He would prefer a one-year deal with a contender to rebuild his value.
Bryant seemed ready to talk numbers when he was in town, but nothing came of it. It’s not clear where he goes from here, as the Browns have been the only team consistently linked with him in recent weeks.

Jameis Winston Excells In Bucs Preseason Game Against Titans
Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Jameis Winston completed 13 of 18 passes for 226 yards with two touchdowns and no in- terceptions in the Bucca- neers' 30-14 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday.
Seeing extended work for the second time in as many preseason games, Winston produced 12.6 yards per at- tempt while making impres- sive scoring connections with Chris Godwin and Justin Watson. Each play stood out for a different reason -- the score to Godwin came after Winston eluded multi- ple rushers, while the pocket pass to Watson was a per-
fect back-shoulder strike down the right sideline.
The nifty juggling act coach Dirk Koetter has put on with respect to splitting reps between Ryan Fitz- patrick and Winston seems to be working, as Winston also displayed ex- cellent chemistry with starters Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, hitting both for long completions Saturday.
Looking ahead to Friday's preseason game against the Lions, it's likely Winston's playing time takes a hit due to Fitzpatrick seeing addi- tional reps with the first unit he'll lead to open the season.

Anthem Before NFL
Games This Season
National anthem protests are once again expected to be a big topic of discussion across the NFL this season, but ESPN is making an effort to keep the focus on football during its broadcasts.
On Friday, ESPN presi- dent Jimmy Pitaro con- firmed that the network will not be including the national anthem as part of its cover- age before “Monday Night Football” games in 2018.
Pitaro added that ESPN will cover instances where sports and politics intersect but emphasized that the World Wide Leader is not a political organization.
ESPN has tried to dis- tance itself from the national anthem debate and the issues
the NFL has had with Don- ald Trump, and we saw the most glaring example of that when a popular on-air per- sonality was suspended for going after Trump on Twit- ter. The network has actually avoided broadcasting the an- them for years, though there were a few instances last sea- son where they deemed it newsworthy and broke from standard procedure.

needed just seven games last season to prove that he is ca- pable of taking the Houston Texans’ offense to new heights, and his most dan- gerous target is understand- ably excited for what the 2018 season has in store.
Watson was on pace to throw more than 40 touch- down passes last year before he went down, and DeAn- dre Hopkins insists that was more than just begin- ner’s luck.
“The possibilities, what we can do is limitless, not just him and myself, but this whole team,” Hopkins said over the weekend. “He runs this whole team and he does a great job.”
Hopkins, who admitted Watson has “a lot to work on,” said he and the former Clemson star have spent a lot
ADRIAN PETERSON
Adrian Peterson will be getting a look on the free agent market.
Peterson is reportedly set to visit with the Washington Redskins.
There has been very little chatter surrounding the 33- year-old unsigned running back.
Peterson began last sea- son with the New Orleans Saints but was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He had some issues with the Saints’ coaching staff, which led to his move.
Washington was not on Pe- terson’s list of preferred des- tinations he mentioned in May, but at this point, he can’t afford to be picky if he simply wants to play.

“The way he studies and our communication on the field, we’re always talking in between reps about what we can do better,” Hopkins said. “So, that’s something that he’s always had, but just something that he’s im- proved on – just us commu- nicating and trying to get better reps.”
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has just three weeks to prepare for the start of another NFL season, but his hands may be more full at home than they are at work these days.
On Sunday, Stafford’s wife Kelly revealed that the couple welcomed their third child last week. Kelly said the baby is healthy, but there has been no indication of whether it is a boy or a girl.
