Omarosa: Trump Wants ‘A Race War’
Trump Cancels Military
Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault- Newman tore into her for- mer boss Sunday, calling President Donald Trump a racist and a “performer” who she believes “wants to start a race war in this coun- try.”
Manigault-Newman, speaking with the Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” said Trump’s claim during his presidential campaign that he would promote diversity was all just a ruse to get votes.
“He was disingenuous about his commitment to di- versity. He could care less if African-American civil rights leaders, anyone came to the table, because he had his agenda and that agenda did not include advancing and uniting the African-American community or even putting any policies in place that he promised during the cam-

The same Donald Trump who has spent months attack- ing NFL players for kneeling in protest because it’s disre- spectful to the men and women in the military, has now canceled a parade specif- ically meant to celebrate the military.
Friday, President Don- ald Trump confirmed he had canceled a planned mili- tary parade this fall in the na- tion’s capital due to the “ridiculously high” price tag given by Washington D.C. of- ficials.
“The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. poorly

know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great cele- bratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridicu- lously high that I cancelled it,” Trump tweeted.
paign,” she said. “He’s a per- former. He wants to use peo- ple as props.”
Asked whether she be- lieves that Trump is a racist, she answered: “Yes, Donald Trump is.”
“I believe that he wants to start a race war in this coun- try,” she added, though did not elaborate on that point.
The former White House aide stressed the small num- ber of African-Americans
who are working in his ad- ministration. She also ac- cused his administration of trying to dismantle former President Barack Obama’s accomplishments.
“Donald Trump is not equipped to serve in the role that he is in,” she concluded. “I would say that he’s unfit to serve as the president of the United States. He has com- pletely taken the presidency to the gutter.”
Officials Defend Plan To Close Almost All Polling Places In Majority Black Georgia County
The ACLU sent a letter to a southwest Georgia county election board warning that its proposed closure of seven polling places was discriminatory against black voters.
#FreePress Editorial Effort Sparks Both Praise, Pushback
Blame On D. C. Officials
On Thursday morning, the editorial pages of more than 350 newspapers around the country were filled with argu- ments in support of a free press in response to a call from The Boston Globe’s editorial board to confront President Trump’s attacks on the media.
The nationwide push gen- erated widespread reaction from several notable figures, including the President him- self, who took to Twitter to rail against the Globe and the "fake news" media. Other
pols, including John Kerry and Elizabeth Warren, ap- plauded the effort and en- couraged others to support the press.
Meanwhile, the U. S. Sen- ate passed a resolution by
unanimous consent affirming that the media “is not the enemy of the people.” The measure, though largely sym- bolic, was passed by the Re- publican-controlled Senate in a rebuke to the president.
Election officials in a rural southwest Georgia county are defending a plan to suddenly close seven of the county’s nine polling places against al- legations of racial discrimina- tion, saying the ones it wants to close are not sufficiently ac- cessible to people with dis- abilities.
Randolph County, the site of the proposed changes, is more than 60 percent Black, with a little over 30 percent of residents in poverty ― more than double the national level. The Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter to the elec- tion board last week warning of a lawsuit because the pro- posed closures discriminated against Black voters.
Those voters, the group said, were less likely to own a car and would be required to walk over three hours to one of the two remaining polling locations because there is no public transportation to get them there. The ACLU also noted the voter makeup of one of the polling places offi- cials wanted to close was 96.7 percent black.
During a public meeting to
discuss the changes Thursday evening, Mike Malone, a consultant hired by the county, said the seven polling places did not comply with the Americans with Disabili- ties Act (ADA). Officials said they don’t have time to fix them, so they would close them instead, WALB re- ported.
Sean Young, the ACLU of Georgia’s legal director, at- tended the meeting Thursday night and dismissed the sug- gestion that a lack of ADA compliance meant the polling places had to close. Randolph County residents who at- tended were also skeptical of the excuse, according to local reports.
“If a government building is not ADA compliant, the so- lution is to make them ADA compliant. If you cut your hand, you don’t chop off your arm, you heal the wound,” he said. “They have had decades to fix these issues and have had elections in these polling places. The better question is why haven’t these issues been fixed? And why, instead of fix- ing them, are you shutting them down?”
Barack Obama Demands ‘Respect’ From Donald Trump In Aretha Franklin Tribute Mashup
Former President Ba- rack Obama just wants one thing of his successor, Presi- dent Donald Trump, in this new mashup video: “Re- spect.”
Obama appears to sing Aretha Franklin’s version of the iconic song in the latest parody clip from YouTube channel “baracksdubs,” which was shared online Saturday.
Franklin died Thursday at age 76 from a form of pan- creatic cancer. The clip’s cre-

ators said the spoof was “a statement, in solidarity with women, minorities, and everyone under attack in the Trump era.”
“I never would have ex- pected to release this dub, which I started on months ago, under these circum- stances, but I hope you and everyone who loves the Queen of Soul enjoys this video,” the creator added. “We love you back, Aretha.”
