Seniors Participate In Monthly Shuffleboard Competition

Each month the Steve Scott, Trainer and Director of the Tampa Shuffleboard Club host a tourna- ment for its members. The members are all senior citizens who enjoy the game and the competition.
The tournament not only allows the players to sharpen their skills, it also provides visits to other areas of the city for the monthly competition.
Recently, the Tampa Shuffle- board Club held its 11th Portable Shuffleboard Tournament, in which four ladies claimed the top prizes.
The ladies who took home first place bragging rights are Linda Cotney and Connie Bowen. The second place honors went to Von- nie Scott and Charlotte Coffie.
The players represented Ragan Park Community Center, Fair Oaks Community Center, and Sulphur Spring Community Center.

play. Scott is hoping this will be the year he can acquire a permanent Shuffleboard court in the East com- munity.
He has also expanded his train- ing sessions. “Now I am training at the Lee Davis Community Center. I train every Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.,” Scott said.
Anyone interested in learning to play Shuffleboard can come to Ragan Park Community Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. Scott teaches the game to senior citizens on Mon- days and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He also teaches at Cyrus Greene Community Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Scott said he uses portable Shuf- fleboards to train seniors at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Com- munity Centers.
