Cavs Need More Than
Andrew Bogut Won't Play In Finals But Won't Need Surgery
Irving, James To Win Title
Golden State Warriors cen- ter Andrew Bogut will not play in the rest of the NBA Fi- nals, but he will not require surgery on the left knee he sprained in Game 5.
Bogut will be sidelined six to eight weeks. His updated status was first reported by NBA.com.
Bogut had traveled to Cleveland for Thursday's Game 6, where the Warriors have another chance to close out the Cavaliers and win
Bogut contested a shot in the lane by Cleveland guard J.R. Smith, who ran into Bogut's fully extended knee. He was walking very gingerly as he left the arena Monday night.
Although the Warriors have been outscored by 25 points in Bogut's 60 minutes on the floor in the series, he was a major spark in Golden State's Game 2 victory at home, recording six blocked shots.
When the Cleveland Cavaliers are done with the NBA Finals — win or lose — Kyrie Irving said he might be able to appreciate what he did in Game 5.
Facing elimination on the road, Irving reached deep men- tally and physically and scored a playoff career-high 41 points on 17-of-24 shooting, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only play- ers in NBA history to score 40 or more points and shoot at least 70% from the field.
In Cleveland’s 112-97 victory against Golden State on Mon- day, Irving and LeBron James also became the first teammates in NBA history to score at least 40 points in the same Finals game.
But there’s no time to bask in accomplishments. Game 6 and a chance to force a final game await the Cavs on Thursday (9 p.m. ET, ABC).
Irving said Game 6 is "the only thing that’s on our mind right now. We’re not satisfied. We understand the magnitude of what Game 6 means for us at home, and we know that it will be an incredible level that they’re going to play at, and we have to play at an even better level."
Play even better? Even Irv- ing admitted, "Now, mind you, to repeat a performance like this would definitely be tough, but whatever it takes to win."
The Cavaliers can’t expect James and Irving to score 40 points each again. Maybe 30

apiece, and they need to find a third — and possibly fourth — player to give them more of- fense.
Hello, Kevin Love. One good game from Love could help the Cavs extend the series one more game. Understood, he sustained a concussion in Game 2, missed Game 3, came off the bench in Game 4 and returned to the starting lineup in Game 5.
He’s averaging 8.8 points, six rebounds and shooting just 37.1% from the field and 28.6% on three-pointers. He had two points and three rebounds on Monday. In general, the Cavs can’t win with that kind of pro- duction from their third — sometimes second — option.
Does J.R. Smith have one more game with five three- pointers?
Whatever Cavs coach Ty- ronn Lue’s gameplan is for Game 6, it starts with James and Irving. James is averaging 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists against the Warriors, and for the playoffs, he is averaging 25.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists and shooting 53% from the field.

their second NBA title in a row.
An MRI revealed that Bogut will not require sur- gery.
Stephen Curry Disappears Again As Shoulder Questions Linger
Four-time MVP LeBron James became the Game 5 hero Monday while the two- time MVP shrunk in a very big moment at Oracle Arena.
Stephen Curry, coming off his 37-point explosion in a Game 4 victory, couldn’t de- liver a knockout blow against the Cavaliers in Game 5.
Curry got worse as the game wore on. He finished with a soft 25 points. He made 8-of-21 shots — 5-of-14 from beyond the 3-point line. He forced many ridiculous at- tempts that even his coach, Steve Kerr, noticed. And he didn’t stand a chance against Kyrie Irving (41 points), who also tore up Klay

Thompson.
Curry’s second-half
malaise figured into Golden State shooting 3-of-21 from 3-point range in the second half.
“I thought there were a couple of times in the game where Steph got into a little bit of a hurry,’’ Kerr said. “But there were a lot of good
looks. Sometimes they don’t go down.’’
Curry has now had sub- par outings in four of the first five games of the Finals — shooting less than 50 percent in those contests. There was a report Sunday he could need shoulder surgery in the off- season, but he denied it after practice, even as he wore a big ice pack on his left shoul- der. Curry said it’s just “bumps and bruises.’’
“Take your hats off to them, made some tough, open shots we had miscom- munication on,’’ Curry said afterward of the James-Irv- ing tandem. “We still like our chances going forward.”
Mo Williams To Exercise Option, Return To Cavs Next Season
Veteran point guard Mo Williams plans to exercise his player option and will return to the Cavaliers next season.
The option is worth close to $2.2 million next season, and Williams has made his inten- tions clear to the Cavaliers, the report said.
Williams, 33, was signed to a two-year, $4.3 million con- tract last summer by the Cavs to give them depth after star guard Kyrie Irving was injured in the 2015 NBA Finals.

Milwaukee, Head Coach Jason Kidd
Finalizing 3-Year Extension
The Milwaukee Bucks and coach Jason Kidd are going for three.
The sides are close to reach- ing agreement on a three-year contract extension, three people with direct knowledge of the sit- uation told The Associated Press.
The people spoke on condi- tion of anonymity Monday be- cause the deal was not final. It is expected to be announced in the next few days. Yahoo! Sports first reported the extension talks.
Kidd is entering the last year of a three-year deal with Mil- waukee initially signed in 2014.
