AIKENS
MR. LEVAN BURNEY
A homegoing celebration for Mr. Levan Burney of Seffner, who passed away, Saturday, June 11, 2016, will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2 p. m. at Re-Birth M. B. Church, 1924 E. Comanche Ave., Rev. Zachary Hudson, pastor officiating. The inter- ment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Levan Burney was born in Morriston, Florida on July 25, 1932 and moved to Tampa at an early age. He was educated in the public schools of Levy County.
Mr. Burney was employed as a longshoreman working out of Local 1402 until retire- ment where he still has many, many friends. Levan enjoyed fishing and sitting in front of the laundry matt so- cializing with his friends. He became a member of Re- Birth M. B. Church in 1999 where he enjoyed worship- ping with his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levan and Flora Burney; brother, James; sister, Lucy and son, Robbie.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and dedi- cated companion, Rutha Fribley; children, Dexter (Beverly), Linda, Elizabeth (Ronald), Kayvette, Phyllis (Jerry), Levan, Gary and Tony; a host of grandchil- dren and great grandchil- dren; godchildren, Mary, Kim and Gloria; sisters, Lula Bennefield and Othelia Bur- ney; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Burney; brother-in-law, Wil- son “Sonny” Morris (Judy); daughter-in-law, Janet Neal; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Pop, Tony and James.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, Fri- day, June 17th from 5 to 8 p. m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Sat- urday for the service.

MRS. TRUDIE MAE BLACK KEARNEY
A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Trudie Mae Black Kearney of Tampa who passed Thursday, June 9, 2016, will be held on Satur- day, June 18th, 11 a. m. at St. John Progressive M. B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco Street, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Trudie Mae Black Kearney was born in Blountstown, Florida on October 17, 1932 to the late Kellie Black, Sr., and Mary Holmes. She inherited a rich legacy of faith, family, character, and grace. Her par- ents taught her the values of honesty, truth, compassion, perseverance, and true rever- ence for God.
Trudie accepted Christ at an early age. Before her teen years, her parents owned a store/café. This is where she developed her culinary arts skills. In her late teens, her parents re-located to the cen- tral Florida area (Kissimmee, Florida) Mrs. Kearney re- ceived her education in Cal- houn, Orange, and Osceola County Schools.
She met and married a local musician, David Kear- ney, aka “Guitar Shorty” his stage name.
Later she moved to Tampa, and met Samuel Mitchell, Jr., a local longshoreman. She started using her culinary arts skills again at a popular restaurant called Morrison’s Cafeteria. She also worked for W. T. Edwards Hospital and St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospi-
tal, where she retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
Upon retirement she minis- tered and touched many lives. She was known for her beau- tiful smile and kind spirit. She was a member of St. John Progressive M. B. Church, which she loved dearly as she did her Lord and Savior!
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Kearney, Jr.; brothers, Ernest, B’dell, Wilford, Jay- loce, Felix and Kellie Black, Jr.; sister, Mary E. Black and companion, Alfred Richard McCall; sisters-in-law, Lillian Radford, Jean Reeves, Shirley Word, Rosa Lee Lowery and Annie Mae Bell.
She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her love and legacy: her loving children, Willie “Edward” Kearney, Rosemary “Tiger” Mitchell-Carter, Claudell “Sheila” Mitchell-Busch (Gary); extended children, Kaleatha Mitchell-Tate (George) and Anthony Mitchell (Paula); grandchil- dren, Tasshonna Yvette Kear- ney-Desantos (Kevin), Albert T. Farris, David A. Carter and Samuel Freeman; sisters, Flossie Beckwith and Barbara Black; brother, Wallace Black; sister-in-law, Gertrude Kearney; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Kearney, Eric Reeves and James Mitchell; godsons, Dr. Vernon L. Smith, Keith Boykins and William Dray- ton; goddaughters, Pat Bailey- Straughter, Benita “Candy” Settles and Ruby Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives in the Kissimmee, Blountstown, Perry, and Cross City areas; special friends, Louise Jones, Howard and Betty Bostick, Annie-Jay Gardner, Jackie Mickens, Mary Dunlap, Jan- nie Cohen, Erline Hinson and family and friends around Belmont Heights area.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, June 17th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Sat- urday for the service.

MRS. HATTIE LEE SHORTER
A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Hattie Lee Shorter of Tampa, who passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 11 a. m. at New Friendship M. B. Church, 3201 E. Lake Ave., Rev. H. L. Daniels, pastor, officiat- ing. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hattie Lee Shorter, was the oldest child born to the union of Mr. Emmitt Mims and Mrs. Hattie Van Webb Banks Robinson (both deceased) in Crawford County, Georgia in the Garden Valley District. She attended the public schools of Macon County. In 1945 Hattie was united in marriage at the age of 16 to the late Mr. Horsly Shorter, Sr. Hattie was a share- cropper which included pick- ing cotton, peas and peaches.
Mrs. Shorter moved to Tampa, Florida in 1970 and began working at Singleton Packing Company. She contin- ued her education at Benjamin Franklin Adult School and graduated in 1977. She worked in the hotel industry at Regal 8 Inn and retired from Quality Inn Hotel. She continued her work in housekeeping and childcare. She was a laborer of love. She was a faithful active member of Friendship Mis- sionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horsly Shorter, Sr.; son, TSgt Horsley Shorter, Jr.; son-in-law, James Carson, Sr.; four sisters, Chris- tine Brown, Lothia Mae Ross, Mary Lou Robinson, and Arma Ruth Robinson; three broth- ers, Roosevelt Robinson, Cur- tis Robinson and Joe Louis Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four daughters, Ozie Lee Carson of Fort Myers, Annie Lee Shorter of Tampa, Ella Marie Coleman of Tampa, and Trinetta (George) Williams of Riverview; three sons, Wilbert (Mary) Shorter, David (Ruby) Shorter, all of Tampa, and Clarence (Stephanie) Shorter of Alabama; godson, Robert (Doris) Kelly of Tampa; god- daughter, Sis. Kathy Vance of Ocala; sisters, Geraldine Robinson, Helen Robinson, Lizzie Walter, Claudia Robin- son and Ruby Garrett; broth- ers, Thomas Jr. (Lucille) Groves, Emmitt (Ruby) Banks and Leonard McKellar; de- voted friends, Rose Fernandez, Clemmie Davis, Hortense Lampkins, Patty Braxton, and Olivia Carmichael-Brown; 31 grandchildren; 49 great grand- children; 34 great-great grand- children; 8 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends; if we have omitted anyone in error, it was of our grieving minds and not of our hearts.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Fri- day, June 17th from 5 to 8 p. m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.

ZayRonne was born on April 13, 1991 in Tampa, and attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He de- parted this life on May 25, 2016 and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flint and Susie Hillmon.
ZayRonne will be truly missed by his friends and neighbors for always being there if they needed him. He had a kind heart and humble spirit among people and was loved by many. He loved the music of CashAddict92Ent.
