Durant Inducted Into Oklahoma Hall Of Fame
TULSA, Okla. -- When Kevin Durant was drafted No. 2 overall in 2007, he prob- ably had dreams of finishing up in the Hall of Fame. But probably not the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
On Thursday in a packed banquet hall, with virtually the whole Oklahoma City Thunder organization in attendance, in- cluding the entire team, Du- rant was inducted into said Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
"I was just overwhelmed [when I found out last year]," Durant said. "At 26-years-old to be told you're a Hall of Famer at anything, any Hall of Fame at that age is pretty young. I felt pretty good, but I didn't know how to feel. I feel likeIcandoalotmore.Ifeel like I've got a long ways to go, but it's still a great honor and I'm just honored to be here. Happy to represent my family and where I come from as well.
Al Horford
Jason Pierre-Paul
FaceTimes Boy Who Had
Parts Of Fingers Amputated
Jason Pierre-Paul's re- covery from his July 4 fire- works accident has gone well beyond the football field, and he's using what happened to him as a way to reach out and help people in similar situa- tions.
Pierre-Paul recently had a FaceTime conversation with an 11-year-old boy in Pennsylva- nia who had to have parts of two fingers amputated after getting his hand caught in a bi- cycle chain.
The boy's plastic surgeon told him to look up Pierre- Paul's story, and his sister, Janie, reached out to Pierre- Paul via Twitter. Pierre-Paul replied and set up a FaceTime conversation with the boy, Seamus Bohannon of Fol- som, Pennsylvania.
"This guy, he didn't have to do that," Seamus' mother, Christine, told NJ.com. "We
JASON PIERRE-PAUL
were just taken aback by it. My son is in his glory right now. Just the fact that someone was reaching out to him."
Christine Bohannon told NJ.com that Pierre-Paul's message to her son was to "stay strong" and "don't listen to other people" when others make jokes or hurtful com- ments about him.
" At 26 years old to be told you're a Hall of Famer at any- thing, any Hall of Fame at that age is pretty young," Kevin Du- rant said of his latest honor.
It's an amazing day."
Durant selected teammate
Russell Westbrook to be his presenter.
"That was an easy pick," Du- rant said. "Somebody that's with me more than anybody, who knows me inside and out. Just wanted to share this night with him."
DeMarcus Cousins called his tie-up with Al Horford "basi- cally a reaction."
NEW YORK -- Sacramento Kings star forward DeMarcus Cousins was suspended one game for hitting Atlanta's Al Horford in the head with a forearm.
Cousins missed Thursday night's 116-109 loss to Miami. The Kings are now 11-38 when Cousins does not play, includ- ing 0-5 this season.
"He's one of the best bigs in the NBA, so I'd have liked to take that challenge on and re- ally compete against him," said Heat center Hassan White- side, who played 18 games with Cousins as teammates with the Kings in parts of two seasons in 2010-12.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra: "Obviously, they were missing a major piece of what they do."
The NBA announced the penalty a day after Cousins and Horford tangled late in the first quarter at Atlanta.
"It was basically a reaction. I was trying to get him off me be- cause when I shot the shot I [got hit] in this area," Cousins, 25, told reporters, pointing to his neck and collar- bone. "I was just trying to get him off."
Holly Holm And Floyd Mayweather Pose Together At Clippers Game
Newly crowned UFC cham- pion Holly Holm and retired pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather both at- tended the LA Clippers game last night in Los Angeles and posed together for a couple of photos.
Interestingly, Holm re- ceived the biggest cheers of all the A-list celebrities that were shown on the big screen. The 34-year old boxing champion dethroned UFC superstar- Ronda Rousey with a stun- ning head kick knockout at
Holly Holm and Floyd May- weatehr
UFC 193 last Saturday.
After several verbal ex-
changes in the past, May- weather publicly sided with Rousey afterwards and stated that he believes, the former champion will be able to 'bounce back'from the first loss of her career. Mayweather retired with a perfect 49-0 record after a unanimous deci- sion victory over Andre Berto in September. Holm will likely face Rousey in an rematch next year.
