   Pastor Celebrating 16th Anniversary Considers It A ‘Joy To Live Out God’s Calling’

A Lakeland native, the youngest son of the late Wilman and Dorette Webb, Rev. Webb gradu- ated from Lakeland High School. He earned a Bache- lor’s degree from Bethune- Cookman University, and continued the education path to Nova Southeastern University, earning a Mas- ter’s in Business Administra- tion. He received Biblical Training from Dallas Theo- logical Seminary.
Rev. Webb says he had no idea what the Lord had in
store for him when he was placed in Tampa at New Bethel as their pastor.
“Because I didn’t know His plans, I chose to trust His purpose and calling on mylife.IamsogladthatI did,” he recalls 16 years later.
“There is no greater joy in life than to live out God’s calling on your life,” he says.
He considers it a privilege to serve as pastor of New Bethel and the “wonderful people” there. “New Bethel has grown physically and spiritually and the church continues to win souls to Christ one sinner at a time,” he said.
Being grateful and appre- ciative of his pastoral duties, Pastor Webb carries a pas- sion for education. Cur- rently, he is Vice President for Student Services at Polk State College. His career there began in 1990 and he has risen through the ranks. He now oversees numerous components of Student Serv- ices.
His Christian walk began at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Lakeland, where for 28 years he was under the leadership of Rev. J. J. McGriff. He accepted his call into the ministry in 1997 and was ordained in 1998.
In 1999, Rev. Webb was led to Harmony Missionary Baptist Church as an Associ- ate Minister under Rev. Steve Caudle. He served there until the Lord led him to Tampa as Pastor of New Bethel Progressive M. B. Church. He became the pas- tor on January 8, 2002.
An active part of the com- munity, Pastor Webb is often called upon to speak at various community and church events. He is a mem- ber of Alpha Phi Alpha Fra- ternity, Inc., and a graduate of Leadership Lakeland and Polk Vision Leadership pro- grams.
Rev. and Mrs. Webb are parents to: 3 sons, Rashod (Jerisha), Trey, and Deronte; 1 daughter, Heavyn; and grandparents to 2 grandsons.
