ciate Reformed Presbyterian Church. In 1934, at 16, Rev.
Graham attended a series of revivals and was converted to Christianity. After graduating from Sharon High School, Rev. Graham enrolled at Bob Jones College, in Cleve- land, Tennessee.
The following year, he transferred to the Florida Bible Institute in Temple Ter- race. Rev. Graham stated in his autobiography that he re- ceived his “calling on the 18th green of the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club.”
He was ordained in 1939 by a group of Southern Bap- tist clergymen at Peniel Bap- tist Church in Palatka, FL.
Rev. Graham graduated from Wheaton College, in Wheaton, Illinois, with a de- gree in Anthology.
Rev. Graham was hired as the first full time Evangel- ist of the new Youth for Christ and traveled throughout the country and Europe.
He became a national fig- ure in 1949, when he used a parking lot in Los Angeles to hold a series of revivals. The revivals were slated to last 3 weeks. However, they ran an additional 5 weeks.
During his tenure as an Evangelist, Rev. Graham was a Spiritual Advisor to American presidents and Spiritual Counselor for every president from President Harry Truman to Presi- dent Barack Obama.
He insisted on racial inte- gration for his revivals and crusades. He invited Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to preach jointly with him at a revival in New York City, in 1957.
According to his staff, more than 3.2 million people have responded to his mes- sage at Billy Graham Cru- sades to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. As a result of his crusades, Rev. Graham preached the gospel to more people in per- son than anyone in history of Christianity.
