LEROY MONSALVATGE ... charged with first-de- gree murder
Shortly after midnight Fri- day, police arrested the sec- ond man wanted in connection with a home inva- sion that turned into a mur- der last Wednesday. Leroy Monsalvatge, 24, was ar- rested in the 3100 block of E. Fletcher Avenue by the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice.
Monsalvatage and Parish Devante Jordan, 24, are being held at the Hills- borough County Jail without bond.

During the investigation police learned that two men had forced their way into Burnett’s apartment and a struggle took place. During the struggle, Burnett and a second person, Parish De- vante Jordan, 24, of Tampa, had both been shot. Jordan’s injury was not life- threatening, police said.
Jordan was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where police arrested him without incident.
In addition to the first-de- gree murder charge, Jordan was charged with robbery with a firearm, armed bur- glary, and being a felon in

possession of a firearm. He was also on probation for car- rying a concealed weapon. He was being held without bond at press time.
On Friday, Monsalvatge was arrested after he went to Florida Hospital, on E. Fletcher Avenue, where he was being treated for an unre- lated illness.
He had been identified as the second suspect in the murder on Thursday and the Temple Terrace Police De- partment had obtained a war- rant for his arrest.
Monsalvatge was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, at- tempted armed robbery with a firearm causing death, armed burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Suspect Robs Convenience Store At Gunpoint
Shortly before 10 p.m., Fri- day, a man walked into a con- venience store and robbed it at gunpoint. The robbery took place at Convenient Food Mart, 723 W. Columbus Drive.
According to police, the African American man, de- scribed as 5’8”, weighing 160 pounds, and wearing all black, had his face covered. He pointed the weapon at the store clerk and demanded money from the cash register and the safe. He took the money and fled.
No injuries were reported to police.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigat- ing a shooting that took place in Valrico Sunday afternoon. The victim, identified as a teenager, died at a local hos- pital.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place in- side the residence in the 4500 block of Cabbage Palm Drive. When deputies ar-
rived, the discovered that one person had been shot. Iden- tified as Jayquon John- son, the victim died a short time after reaching the hos- pital.
The detectives interviewed the shooter, who remained at the scene, as well as potential witnesses.
The case remains an active death investigation, police said.
Warrant Issued For Robbery Suspect
Crime Stoppers Offering Reward In Celebratory Gunfire Cases
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a man in con- nection with a robbery. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
According to police, Cur- tis Leon Smith, 33, of Tampa, approached an indi- vidual at Netpark, 5701 E. Hillsborough Avenue, in Sep- tember. The man implied he had a gun and demanded the victim’s belongings.
The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s wallet, cell phone, and PIN number for his debit card.
The suspect fled the scene in a gold or brown colored ve- hicle. During the investiga- tion, police discovered that the victim’s card was used at Seminole Hard Rock several times inside the casino.

robbed the victim in Septem- ber. Smith is 6’2” and weighs 214 pounds. He was last known to be driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla with the Florida Tag #7258TP.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for informa- tion leading to the identifi- cation and arrests of the suspects involved in two shootings. Both injuries oc- curred as a result of celebra- tory shooting.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigat- ing both injuries as separate cases.
According to police Terry Wayne Snyder, 55, was riding a bicycle on Deerfield Street, when he was injured. The incident took place at approximately 9:10 p.m., Saturday.
He told police that as he was riding, he felt a sharp pain in his leg at the same time as he heard fireworks in the area. He was trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was
treated for a gunshot and later released.
In the second shooting, police said Jesus Daniel Garcia-Renteria, 22, was injured about 9 minutes after the New Year arrived. He was standing in the front yard of a residence in the 6000 block of 1st Street, in Wimauma, watching fire- works. He was struck in the arm by a bullet. Witnesses told police they had no idea from which direction the shot came.
He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot and later released.

Man Faces First-Degree Murder Charge
The Largo Police Depart- ment arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with first-degree murder. The shooting took place New Year’s Eve.
According to police, the shooting took place at about 11:30 p.m., Saturday. Largo Police responded to 616 Rosery Road, NW. When po- lice arrived, EMS was on the scene and transported the in- jured person, identified as Quade Gifford, to a local hospital, where he was pro- nounced dead.
