IN MEMORY OF
MRS. BARBARA JEAN WATSON
Dear Mom,
There is not a day
that goes by I don’t think of you. I just don’t believe you’re gone, it’s like a dream. I remem- ber how you raised me and taught me about life.
I love you so much, sometimes I just stare at your picture and think of you. So much I want to say, but, I’m going to save it for the next time we meet. I’m wishing you a Happy Birthday and Happy New Year’s Day.
Love, your son, Patrick Watson.
P. S. Love! See you soon.
JIMMIE LEE ROGERS, JR.
... Killed November 18
th
JULIAN WILLIAM BIRD ... Charged with first-degree murder
Bird is alleged to have fired into the car striking Rogers, causing his foot to come off the brake and the car to roll backward into an apartment. Rogers died at the scene, police said.
Bird was charged with first-degree murder and at- tempted armed robbery. The investigation is continuing.
Bird was being held in the Polk County Jail in connec- tion with another murder. Police accused Bird of killing Mohammed Allam in October 2016. Allam was a Lake Wales gas station owner. Bird was arrested on December 24th by Lake Wales detectives and charged in connection with that murder.
TYRIQUE ST. VALLE
On Tuesday afternoon, a group of unidentified men are alleged to have commit- ted a home invasion. The men held the residents at gunpoint inside the home while they took several items belonging to them.
According to the New Port Richey Police Department, the 9-1-1 call was received at 1:47 p.m. When officers ar- rived at the home on Ohio Avenue, they were told that the men fled the scene in a black, four-door car.
Detectives have identified two of the suspects as a 16- year-old juvenile and Isacc Reyes, 18. Both are in cus- tody. Police are searching for Xavier Collins and Tyrique St. Valle. They said both are considered armed and dangerous.
A short time later, detec- tives located the vehicle trav- eling east on Avery Road, near Astor Drive. The vehicle, a black 2008 Lexus, had been reported stolen to the Winter Park Police Department on December 23rd, police said.
Police attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled. A brief pursuit took place before the suspect crashed the car into a tree on River Road, just south of Green Key Road.
The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 16-year-old, was pinned under the tree

that had been struck by the vehicle.
After Detective Karen Norris freed the teenager, he began to fight her. After he broke free, a citizen tackled him and assisted the detec- tive in taking him into cus- tody. Another man in the car, identified as Reyes, ran from the scene of the crash. He was armed with a hand- gun.
Officer Stephanie Ras- calli chased him and ordered him to drop the gun. The of- ficers lost sight of him as he jumped fences to escape. He was taken into custody on U. S. 19, a few blocks from the scene of the crash. He did not have the gun on him at the time of his arrest.
However, police searched the area and found a small, silver semi-automatic hand- gun on the ground just on the other side of the fence he jumped.
Police were able to locate items belonging to the vic- tims inside the stolen car. The victims also positively identified Reyes and the 16- year-old. They are continuing to search for the other two in- volved in the home invasion.
Both Reyes and the juve- nile are from the Orlando area. Police have not deter- mined a motive for the home invasion and have not identi- fied the victims.
Winter Haven Police have arrested a man in connection with a robbery gone bad that took place on November 18th. The man has also been charged with a murder in an- other city.
According to police, Ju- lian William Bird, of Lake Wales, and two unidentified accomplices planned to rob Jimmie Lee Rogers, Jr. On the morning of November 18th, police said Bird and the two others waited for Rogers at his apartment complex on Avenue J NW. When Rogers arrived, Bird allegedly confronted him at the driver’s side of his vehicle before Rogers could put the car in park.
