Sales For Michelle Obama Memoir Top 2 Million Copies
NEW YORK — Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” is sell- ing at a pace rarely seen for a political memoir, or any non- fiction book.
Combined hardcover, e-book and audio sales in the U. S. and Canada topped 2 million copies in the first 15 days, Crown Pub- lishing announced Friday. By comparison, former first lady Hillary Rodham Clin- ton’s memoir “Living History” needed a month to sell 1 mil- lion copies. Former President George W. Bush’s “Decision Points” took several weeks to reach 2 million. Former Presi- dent Bill Clinton’s “My Life” quickly sold 1 million copies but took far longer to hit 2 mil- lion.
“Becoming,” which came out

Nov. 13, now has 3.4 million hardcover copies in print. The former first lady is in the midst of a promotional tour, with guests including Oprah Win- frey and Reese Wither- spoon.
Michelle Obama Honors George H. W. Bush In Moving Instagram Post
Although their politics often differ widely, it's long been tra- dition for former presidents to get along. Not only does it send a bipartisan message, but lead- ers of the executive branch share a unique kinship: there are only a handful of living peo- ple who know the triumphs, struggles, and burdens of serv- ing in the Oval Office.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama reminded us of that this weekend with a touching Instagram post in honor of the late George H. W. Bush, who passed away this past Fri- day. Obama shared a photo of Bush giving her a kiss on the cheek from his wheelchair, and added a touching comment.
"As a public servant, father, and grandfather, President George H. W. Bush was an extraordinary example for us all," she wrote. "His spirit of service and decency will be missed by many, including our family. I hope his memory will be a guiding light for our coun- try and those around the world."
Michelle Obama also shared that she would be at- tending the 41st president's fu- neral—even though it meant cancelling tour dates for her new memoir, Becoming. She posted the news on Twitter, along with an apology to those planning to attend her can- celled events.
It’s important to me to join the Bush family in celebrating President George H. W. Bush’s exemplary life. This will unfortunately preclude my visits to Paris and Berlin. I’ve been deeply touched by the en- thusiasm for my memoir, and I’m working to reschedule my trip for next year.

"I'm working to reschedule my trip for next year, she added. "I hope readers and ticket holders will understand my decision regarding my de- sire to attend President Bush’s funeral, and join me in paying tribute to him and his tremendous contributions to our world."
According to the New York Times, her husband Barack Obama was able to see George H. W. Bush in his final days during a trip to Houston.
Michelle Obama is also a friend of George H. W. Bush's son, George W. Bush. Due to the protocol for former presidents, they are al- ways seated together at official events. "He's my partner in crime at every major thing where all the 'formers' gather," Obama told Today. "So we're together all the time... I love him to death. He's a wonderful man, he's a funny man."
