Tiger Woods Files Entry To Play
U. S. Open For First Time Since 2015
TIGER WOODS
Tiger Woods has filed his entry to play in the U. S. Open for the first time since 2015.
The USGA says Woods of- ficially entered on Thursday, four days after he tied for 32nd in the Masters. Even exempt players have to formally enter the U. S. Open.
Woods hasn't played the U. S. Open since he missed the cut at Chambers Bay with rounds of 80-76.
The U. S. Open is June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills on Long Is- land, where Woods made his U. S. Open debut in 1995 as the U. S. Amateur champion. He opened with a 74 and withdrew the next day with a wrist injury. He tied for 17th at Shinnecock in 2004 when he was in the midst of changing his swing.
Woods is in the last year of a 10-year exemption from win- ning the 2008 U. S. Open at Torrey Pines.
Joel Embiid Out For Game 2
JOEL EMBIID
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has cleared the concussion protocol but will not play in Game 2 against the Miami Heat on Monday. Sixers coach Brett Brown said Sun- day that the club does not have a clear idea on when Embiid might return.
Embiid suffered a broken orbital bone and concussion in a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz on March 28. He underwent surgery to repair the fracture and has been side- lined since.
Brown said the Sixers' dominant Game 1 win Saturday did not factor in the team's de- cision to sit Embiid for Game 2.
Between Game 2 and Game 3, Embiid may participate in on-court work with members of the coaching staff or players who are not in the regular rota- tion.

Utah Jazz Rookie Donovan Mitchell OK To Play In Game 2
Sunday's 98-80 loss to the Indiana Pacers put Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James in an 0-1 hole in the first round for the first time in his career.
But James projected con- fidence looking ahead to Game
2.
"I've always stayed even-
keeled with the postseason," James said after registering his 20th career playoff triple- double with 24 points, 12 as- sists and 10 rebounds. "I mean, I'm down 0-1 in the first round. I was down 3-1 in the Finals. So I'm the last guy to ask about how you're going to feel the next couple days."
Indeed, James and the Cavs crawled back from a 3-1 deficit against a record-setting Golden State Warriors team in the 2016 NBA Finals to cap- ture the first championship in franchise history.
But that team had more time together and a combina-
tion of more top-level talent (such as Kyrie Irving, now with the Boston Celtics) and more playoff-tested role play- ers (such as Richard Jeffer- son, now with the Denver Nuggets) than this season's.
Game 1, according to James, was a rude awakening for some of his teammates get- ting their first real taste of competing in the playoffs on a team with a target on its back as a title contender.
"We had some guys in their first time out there playing in this setting, and they definitely ... Like I told you guys, you al- ways ask me, 'Is there any- thing you can tell them [about the playoffs]?' Listen, experi- ence is the best teacher, and they got it today," James said. "I think everybody is going to bealotmorecalmandalot more precise in what we want to do, too. So it's definitely a feel-out game. We'll see what they're going to do.
Kia Rookie of the Year can- didate and star Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell in- jured his left pinky toe in the second half during his playoff debut for the Utah Jazz at the Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, it appears the in- jury won't sideline him for Game 2 of the series.

Kawhi Leonard Not Expected To Return For Playoffs
Kawhi Leonard is ap- parently not walking through that door.
The San Antonio Spurs All- Star is not expected to return to the team for the playoffs, ac- cording to multiple reports.
Leonard remains in New York to work with his own team of doctors on the right quadriceps injury that has hampered him all season.
