Deputies Investigate Shooting Death Of High School Athlete
Woman Faces Murder Charge In Fatal Stabbing
A Tampa woman was ar- rested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday. She is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bond on a charge of first-degree mur- der.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the inci- dent took place at 1434 Es- telle Street.
Ms. Waterier Howard,
26, her unidentified sister, and Jayvion Parker, 24, had gone to a party. An ar- gument took place between Ms. Howard’s sister and Parker, at the Estelle Street apartment.
At some point during the argument, that took place around 3:30 a.m., Ms. Howard attempted to in- tercede and armed herself with a knife, police said.
As the argument pro- gressed, she allegedly stabbed Parker in the

upper body. Police and Tampa Fire Rescue re- sponded to the scene and provided medical attention to Parker. He was trans- ported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Ms. Howard was taken into custody at the location of the stabbing around 8:30 a.m., Sunday and charged.
Police said both Ms.

Howard and Parker lived at an address in the 7300 block of Solano Court, but were not in a relationship.
The investigation is con- tinuing.
HART To Celebrate Earth Week With Free
Plant Kits
In honor of Earth Week, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) will provide customers with free plant kits. The kits will be dis- tributed at the Marion Transit Center (MTC), 1211 N. Marion Street, on Tuesday, April 17, from at 9 a.m., until 10:30 a.m.
The kits are to remind the public to not only “think green” for the observance, but adopt environmentally-friendly habits year round. HART Board Mem- bers, Interim CEO Jeff Se- ward, and HART staff will be handing out the plant kits, as well as, announcing free rides on HART buses for Earth Day. Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd.
The kits are to encourage the public to reduce their carbon footprint by utilizing transit services.
Seward said, “HART is fo- cused on reducing greenhouse emissions and implementing numerous water and energy conservation practices into its daily routine.
“A free ride on Earth Day and the plant kit giveaway is an- other example of our commit- ment to improving the environment and reminding our community, stakeholders, and employees that our practices and services are environmen- tally friendly.”
As Hillsborough County’s public transit system, the organ- ization recognizes its role in making public transportation a sustainable part of our city.

Detectives with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice are investigating a suspicious death. It took place Sunday night.
Information pertaining to the death of 18-year-old Grover Wills is sketchy. Police said Wills was killed at the intersection of Kings
and Lumsden around 8 p.m. Detectives are actively conducting their investiga- tion and will release addi- tional information in the
future.
Wills was a senior at Du-
rant High School and a member of the school’s foot- ball team.
