Traffic Fatalities
    Tampa Man Killed In Hit And Run Accident
 A 52-year-old man died early Saturday after being in- volved in a hit and run acci- dent. The accident took place at the intersection of N. 26th Street and E. Columbus Drive.
According to Tampa Po- lice, shortly after 2 a.m., po- lice on patrol witnessed a vehicle driving erratically with its headlights off near N. 22nd Street and E. 7th Avenue. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled the scene. The officers did not attempt to follow the vehicle.
A few minutes later, an ac- cident took place at the inter- section of N. 26th Street and E. Columbus Drive. When offi-

cers arrived, they discovered it was the same vehicle the of- ficers had observed earlier. After the accident, the driver and the passenger fled the
scene, leaving the Jeep they were driving behind. It was determined that the Jeep had been rented.
Artemus Leon Holley,
52, the driver of the other ve- hicle, died as a result of his in- juries. There were no passengers in his vehicle.
Police located the uniden- tified passenger of the Jeep, but he was not cooperating with police. Police are contin- uing the search for the driver of the vehicle.

   Driver Charged With DUI Manslaughter
 A Hillsborough County man has been charged in connection with an accident that claimed two lives. The accident took place Saturday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the acci- dent took place around 9:35 p.m., at the intersection of U. S. Highway 301 and Jo- hanna Avenue.
Benson Craig John- ston, 34, of Dover, was driving a 2009 Lexus RX350 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Johanna Av- enue.He turned into the path of a 2013 Suzi GSR750 motorcycle driven by Kerry Jason Webb, 37, of Riverview. Ms. Angelina Elizabeth Torrey, 25, of Valrico was his passenger.
Webb and Ms. Torrey were both ejected from the
motorcycle. Webb died at the scene.
Ms. Torrey was trans- ported to Brandon Regional Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries.
Johnston, who was not injured, ran from the scene. Deputies with the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office and State Troopers located Johnston at a residence at 10805 Lake St. Charles Blvd., in Riverview.
He was taken into cus- tody and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and DUI Manslaugh- ter. Police said Johnston was also charged with Felony DUI, his 4th convic- tion.
He is being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
  Motorcyclist Dies In Traffic Accident
 A 22-year-old man died after the motor- cycle he was driving was involved in a traffic accident. The accident took place near Inter- state 4 and U. S. Highway 98 North, in Lake- land.
According to police, Odianyer Ro- driguez was driving in the center lane on U. S. 98 North. Hubble Keller, 43, was trav- eling in the outside lane and began to merge into the center lane. Keller’s truck hit the motorcycle Rodriguez was operating. Upon impact, Rodriguez lost control of the mo-
torcycle and fell on to the roadway.
The rear tires of the F350 truck subse- quently drove over Rodriguez and the mo-
torcycle.
Lakeland Police, the _Polk County Fire
Department, and the Lakeland Fire Depart- ment responded to the scene and began life- saving first aid. Rodriguez was transported to Lakeland Regional Health, where he died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

  Assisted Living Facility Patients Evacuated
The Tampa Fire Depart- ment evacuated an Assisted Living Facility last Friday as a result of a chemical spill. The incident occurred at the Central Assisted Living Facility, 5010 N. 40th Street.
According to a spokesman for Tampa Fire Rescue, a main- tenance worker was cleaning a bathroom and mixed bleach and ammonia together. The re- sulting cloud required one pa- tient to be transported. HAZMAT responded and evac- uated the affected wing of the building.
About 50 residents were temporarily displaced while the HAZMAT team neutralized the chemical spill and ventilated the building. There were not other injuries and the incident has been ruled accidental.
