CJ Anderson Says It Would
LeBron Would Listen To Warriors If Max Slot Is Available
LEBRON JAMES AND STEPHEN CURRY
If the Golden State War- riors can create a max salary slot this offseason, the defend- ing NBA champions could po- sition themselves to secure a meeting with LeBron James, league sources told ESPN.
There is no indication that Golden State is evaluating such options to acquire the Cleveland Cavaliers star at this time.
Out of respect for the War- riors' winning culture, James would listen if Golden State explored ways to clear the nec- essary cap space, sources said.
This offseason, James is expected to decline his $35.6 million player option and be- come an unrestricted free agent for the third time in his career, although re-signing with Cleveland is not out of the question.
James' distant relation- ship with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert is well-chronicled, and the instability in Cleve- land's front office has been of concern to him, but the War- riors' strong organizational structure and the prospect of more championships would be an enticement that most vet- eran players would consider.
Negro League Players Inducted Into The Hall Of Fame
      Be ‘Huge’ If Broncos
Landed Kirk Cousins
The Broncos are in search of an upgrade at the quarter- back position this offseason, and Kirk Cousins is the one name that seems to keep coming up. C.J. Anderson is among the players in Den- ver who understand why.
In an appearance on NFL Network Wednesday, An- derson was asked about the- potential of Cousins winding up with the Broncos now that the Washington Redskins have traded for Alex Smith.
“It would be huge having a guy like Kirk, a veteran guy

who’s been through it. It would be huge to come to us, a veteran team,” Anderson said.
Oscar Charleston — 1976 At the age of 15, Oscar
Charleston enlisted in the military, and was sent to the Philippines, where he played baseball with the 24th Negro Infantry.
He was a powerful hitter who could hit to all fields and bunt.
His finest season was likely 1921—when he hit well over .400 and led the Negro National League in doubles, triples, and homers.
Charleston won batting titles in the Eastern Colored League in 1924 and 1925, and led the American Negro League in hitting in 1928.
James “Cool Papa” Bell —1974
Known as “Cool Papa,” James Bell was considered one of the great- est baseball players that ever took to the field. Bell’s career spanned 29 years and played the position of centerfielder.
In addition to playing in the Negro Leagues, Bell also played in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
Born on May 17, 1903, Bell died at the age of 87, in St. Louis, on March 7, 1991.
  Alex Smith Gets
 Four-Year Contract
Extension From Redskins
The Washington Redskins clearly have a lot more confi- dence in Alex Smith as a quarterback than Kirk Cousins.
The Chiefs and Redskins had reportedly agreed to a trade involving Smith. The deal has two serious ramifica- tions: Kansas City is moving forward with Patrick Ma- homes as their quarterback, while Kirk Cousins will be- come a free agent.
Washington had spent the past couple of years unsure about what to do with
ALEX SMITH
Cousins and never wanted to commit to him longterm. They franchise-tagged him two years in a row, and now they will be letting him go.
The History Of Baseball
Cardinals Expected To Release Adrian Peterson
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to release veteran running back Adrian Peter- son, according to a report.
Peterson signed a two- year deal with the New Orleans Saints last offseason and was traded to the Cardinals early in the season, so he is still under contract with Arizona for 2018. He is scheduled to count $3.5 million against the salary cap, and Mike Jurecki of 98.7 FM Arizona Sports has been told Peterson will likely be re- leased.
Peterson finished the 2017 season with 529 yards and two touchdowns on 156 rushing attempts. His brief stint with the Saints was a dis- aster, but the 32-year-old seemed to show he had some- thing left in the tank when he ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns in his Cardinals

debut. Peterson didn’t do much after that, however, and was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury that he suf- fered in Week 12.
While he has not played a ton, Peterson has now aver- aged just 2.8 yards per carry over the last two seasons. De- spite what he said in December about his playing future, it’s fair to wonder if we have seen the last of the 32-year-old in the NFL.
