Accused Of Cheating On Emissions Test Of Jeeps And Dodges
A day after Volkwagen’s multi-billion dollar settlement over its use of software to dodge emissions rules, the government has accused Fiat Chrysler of similar tricks.
Fiat Chrysler installed soft- ware in its Jeep and Dodge models to cheat emissions rules, the Environmental Pro- tection Agency said Thu in an echo of the scandal that hit Volkswagen in 2015, accord- ing to Buzzfeed.
More than 100,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and and Dodge Ram trucks had undis- closed software that allowed them to spew nitrous oxide above legal limits, the EPA said Thursday.
The software was discovered after the EPA launched a crackdown on the use of “de- feat devices,” which alter how much pollution a car emits when it is being tested.
Fiat said in a statement that it was “disappointed” in the EPA’s decision, but that it “in- tends to work with the incom- ing administration to present its case and resolve this mat- ter fairly and equitably.” The company maintained its emis- sions systems “meet applica- ble requirements.”

FORT WORTH, TX —- A Fort Worth police officer was suspended for 10 days with- out pay, but will not be fired, after a viral video surfaced of him wrestling a Black woman and her daughter to the ground after they'd called po- lice for help.
Officer William A. Mar- tin, the officer seen in the video, was informed of the punishment Monday morn- ing by Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald. Ac- cording to Fort Worth Police Officer's Association Presi- dent Rick Van Houten, Martin appealed the suspen- sion Monday afternoon.
An internal affairs investi- gation found Martin used excessive force when he ar-
rested Jacqueline Craig and her two daughters on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The incident happened after Craig called 911 to re- port a neighbor had grabbed her 7-year-old son when the boy allegedly threw some raisins in the neighbor’s yard.
Instead of arresting the neighbor, Martin questioned why Craig didn’t teach her son not to litter and suggested the neighbor had the right to touch the boy.
Craig had warrants for un- paid traffic tickets and was ar- rested for failure to identify herself and resisting arrest. Her two daughters were ar- rested for interfering.

New Mom Says She Is Done Having Children After Delivering 14 Pound Baby Boy
Loyalty Grover weighed 14 lbs. when he was born.
MANCHESTER, N. H. —- When Lamar Austin’s wife Lindsay went into labor on New Year’s Eve, Austin did what any loving husband and father would do: he stayed by his wife’s side to welcome their newborn son into the world. Born on Jan.1, 2017, the little bundle of joy was welcomed into the family as the youngest of four.
However, what should’ve been a happy moment for the 30-year-old turned sour when Austin received a text message while his wife was in labor notifying him he’d been fired from his job as a secu- rity guard. “I looked at it and I was like, ‘Wow. OK, cool,’ and that was about it for me,” Austin said.
Austin, a military veteran was on a 90-day trial period and never missed prior shifts. However, the life-changing experience wasn’t a factor for his employees at Salerno Pro- tective Services.
Word has gotten out about Austin’s predicament and since the birth of the couple’s son, he’s received an outpour- ing of support. A Go Fund Me account was created for him and his family and at the time of this post, received $9,545 of the proposed $10,000 goal. Austin has also received sev- eral job offers and his consid- ering pursing a position as an electrical apprentice. He said he is deciding, because be- coming an electrician is his dream job.
LaQueena Hunter Grover, now a mother of four, is accustomed to big ba- bies.
Her first two children weighed just over 7 pounds and her third child was a whopping 11.9 pounds.
However, WDSU reports, when she was pregnant with her fourth baby, she thought maybe she might have twins this time.
However, on Dec. 6, 2016, Grover only gave birth to one child, Loyalty Adonis Grover, who weighed in at 14 pounds, 1 ounce.
“Right when the doctor was taking him out, my husband’s
mouth literally just dropped,” Grover said. “He was like, ‘That’s a big baby.’ When [Loyalty] was born, he was 14 pounds, 1 ounce. I remem- ber the nurse came running back and when she told me that, I swear, had I not been on the gurney already, I would’ve passed out right there when she said that.”
Not-so-little Loyalty had to spend 27 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, but now he is finally home with his mother. At a little over a month, Loyalty now weighs 15 pounds and measures 2 feet in height.
