Fourth-Straight
As Winston
Continues To Shine
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers are officially on fire after beating the Detroit Lions Sunday for their fourth- straight win. The Bucs have pulled their record back to .500 at 7-7 and with two games left — both at home — they have a chance to finish with their first winning record since 2016.
Buccaneers star quarter- back Jameis Winston ended up throwing four touchdowns and one pick, while also setting a new ca- reer-high in passing yards with 458, one week after set- ting the previous high with 456 against the Colts. Win- ston now has 24 intercep- tions on the year, tying him with Doug Williams for the second most in a season by a Bucs quarterback. But, let’s cut Winston some slack. After all, Vinny Testaverde threw 35 interceptions in a season once as the Bucs quar- terback. More importantly, though, Winston’s Bucs are winning, which will likely be the reason he’s brought back to Tampa Bay next season for $27 million.
The Bucs defense holding the Lions under 20 points, with the defense picking off Detroit quarterback David Blough twice and Shaq Barrett tying Warren Sapp for the franchise’s sin- gle-season sack record (16.5).
JAMEIS WINSTON Michigan native Sean
Murphy-Bunting had quite the homecoming, picking off Blough for a pick-six that es- sentially sealed the victory for the Bucs. This defense is gain- ing some great experience over these last few weeks, and unlike years past, the team can go into the offseason knowing they have a solid de- fense to work with.
Godwin Injured Chris Godwin finished the day with five receptions for 121 yards before leaving the game with a hamstring in- jury. This comes just one week after Mike Evans suf- fered a hamstring injury that will sideline him for the rest of the year. We don’t know how serious the injury is for God- win, but, there’s a chance the team could hold him out the final two games as a precau-
tion.

In the NFC, the New Or- leans Saints had the South di- vision title wrapped up entering the week and are play- ing for a seed at this point. They don’t play until Monday night when they host the Indi- anapolis Colts.
Two more teams joined the Saints in the dance later Sun- day, and we now have a new No. 1 seed following a shocking result.
The Seahawks beating the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers losing in the final seconds to the Atlanta Falcons means that the Sea- hawks not only are in, but they’re now atop the confer- ence seeding for the time being.
Seattle didn’t actually clinch a playoff spot until the Los Angeles Rams were smashed by the Dallas Cow- boys, so it was a wild ride up the playoff food chain in the matter of a few hours. It’s coach Pete Carroll’s eighth trip to the playoffs with Seattle.
The 49ers actually got into the postseason, despite the loss — also thanks to the Rams los-
ing.The Green Bay Packers clinched a playoff bid in Matt LaFleur’s first season as head coach by hanging on to beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and the Bears officially were knocked out hours later when the Minnesota Vikings beat the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Rams now need to run the table — and have the Vikings lose out — to get in.
Buffalo Playoff-Bound Again, Pittsburgh In A Fight
That’s now two postseason bids in three years for the Buf- falo Bills, who clinched their spot Sunday night with a state- ment victory over the Pitts- burgh Steelers.
This is the same Bills fran- chise that before 2017 had gone 17 seasons without a playoff bid. It’s Buffalo’s most victories (10) in a season since 1999, when they won 11. Win the final two and the Bills can take the AFC East and their most wins since 1993.
The Steelers now are sitting even with the Tennessee Titans at 8-6. They’ll be duking it out for the final wild-card spot, it appears.
Police announced that a dead body was found in a portable toilet on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, the home of the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens last played a home game on Thursday, a 41-21 victory over the New York Jets to clinch the AFC North title.
The body was not identi-
fied, and it’s not clear how long the body had been in- side the toilet. Police were called around 2 p.m. on Sun- day when somebody found the body in the toilet at the stadium’s parking lot, ac- cording to the Baltimore Sun.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine a cause of death.
Jarvis Landry Appears To
Have Words With Freddie
Referee Mistake On Derek
The Cleveland Browns had yet another uninspiring performance on Sunday against the Arizona Cardi- nals, and Jarvis Landry did not look thrilled with head coach Freddie Kitchens at one point late in the game. The Browns lost to the Arizona Cardinals, 38-
24.After one of Cleveland’s drives stalled in the fourth quarter, Landry had a brief conversation with Kitchens on the sideline. While we don’t know exactly what was said, it certainly appeared that the star receiver was rip- ping into Kitchens.
Kitchens has been in over his head all season, which is why it is so surpris- ing that a report on Sunday claimed the Browns still en- vision him as their coach for the long term. He had some
JARVIS LANDRY AND FREDDIE KITCHENS
success as the team’s offen- sive coordinator late last sea- son when Baker Mayfield broke out, but very little of that has carried over into 2019.
Landry has been more productive than Odell Beckham, Jr. this year and has over 1,000 yards receiv- ing, but the Browns strug- gled to get him the ball on Sunday. It would not be a surprise if he was frustrated about that.
Carr Slide Costs Raiders
In Loss To Jaguars
The referees cost the Oak- land Raiders at the end of their home loss to the Jack- sonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Raiders blew a 16-3 lead and lost 20-16 on a touchdown by the Jags with 31 seconds left. Their come- back cause was aided by a bad call by the refs.
The Raiders had a second- and-9 at the Jacksonville 46 with 2:12 left and Derek Carr scrambled towards the right sideline for a gain of 12 and first down. After picking up the first, Carr made the heads-up decision to slide in- bounds, which should have kept the clock rolling until the 2-minute warning. Instead, the refs botched the call and
DEREK CARR
said Carr was out of bounds, which stopped the clock with 2:05 left, forcing the Raiders to run another play before the 2-minute warning.
The decision essentially gave the Jags another timeout and saved them nearly a minute in game clock.
