did whatever a spider could and just demolished any pre- conceived notions about how much a major theatrical block- buster could gross in these pandemic-era times.
Sony and Marvel’s $200 mil- lion sequel earned a whopping $253 million in its debut week- end. That’s a 2.08x multiplier from its $121.5 million Friday, which is exactly on par with the mid-December debuts of The Force Awakens ($247 mil- lion from a $119 million Fri- day), Rogue One ($155 million/$75 million), The Last Jedi ($220 million/$105 mil- lion) and The Rise of Sky- walker ($177 million/$90 million).
popular comic book superhero in the world. Sure, there are moments when Superman is buzzier, Wonder Woman or Black Panther is defining the cultural zeitgeist or Bat- man is cooler.
“No Way Home,” directed by Jon Watts and re-teaming Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ, collected an additional $334.2 million overseas, according to Sony. The studio said the film’s $587.2 million worldwide total was a record for its primary di- vision, Columbia Pictures, which was founded in 1918.
“No Way Home” cost Sony and Disney at least $200 mil- lion to make, not including the price of a megawatt marketing campaign.
After a chance encounter with
Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss)
and meeting a new version of
Morpheus (Yahya Abdul- Mateen II), Neo is thrown back down the rabbit hole and must take down a new threat against humanity. While the trailers have showcased some characters who are returning, there are also several new char-
acters to join the science fiction saga.
Jada Pinkett-Smith re- turns as a much older version of Niobe and imparts some wisdom onto Neo. “It’s so easy to forget how much noise the Matrix pumps inside your head. Something else makes the same kind of noise — war,” she says.
The latest trailer has recently launched for The Matrix Res- urrections and fans are excited to see the epic sci-fi series con- tinue. The trailer has created much nostalgia, and there is a huge amount of anticipation showcasing that The Matrix was one of the greatest science fiction films of all time. Lana Wachowski wrote and di- rected The Matrix Resurrec- tions, and the film is set to release on December 24th, Fri- day. Although there were mixed reactions to The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Rev- olutions, the entire series pro- duced groundbreaking special effects and several memorable characters.
The Matrix Resurrections
takes place many years after the last film, and follows Thomas A. Anderson A.K.A Neo (Keanu Reeves) living a normal life in San Francisco.
