Children With A Vision Distributes 1,000 Book Bags
Children With A Vision hosted its 21st Annual Back To School Drive-Through Giveaway and passed out more than 1,000 book bags with school supplies.
The back to school event was held at Ragan Park Community Center, beginning at 12 noon.
Because of Coronavirus (CoOVID-19) Mrs.
Tonya Lewis said she almost cancelled the event, especially with the increasing numbers.
Mrs. Lewis realized just 3 days before the event, August 2nd, and the uncertainty of the chil- dren going back to school, the children needed their supplies. Mrs. Lewis stated, "I was not going to allow COVID-19 to stop Children With A Vision
from hosting its annual event and blessing the chil- dren around the Bay Area. Children With A Vision serviced over 1,000 children.”
Gratitude was expressed to “Mayor Jane Cas- tor and Tampa Police Department for coming out in the rain and rendering a hand. COVID-19 did not get the glory. We are community strong.”
Those who drove through did not have to get out of their cars as volunteers weath- ered the rain to distribute the book bags.
DJ Tee Pee had popular music spinning during the event.
