Crime
An incident at a local apartment complex began with an argument between the female resident and a vis- itor. It ended with the ex- change of gunfire, a man injured, and another man dead. Now, officials are inves- tigating to determine if the shooting meets the “Stand Your Ground” criteria.
At approximately 4:30 Sunday morning, deputies were dispatched to a resi- dence on Tealwood Drive in the Woodberry Woods Apart- ment Complex.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered an adult man dead in the door- way. Another man, who was at the apartment when the confrontation took place, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. They also met with the woman who lives in the apartment who was not injured.
The woman told police that the deceased man came to the apartment and began knocking on the door. The woman said he then pushed the door open and the two of them began arguing.

Early Morning Shooting Leaves Man Dead
Drive-Thru Burglary Suspect Being Sought
The shooting took place in the Woodberry Woods Apart- ments in Brandon early Sunday morning.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a burglary suspect. The man gained entry through the drive- thru window of the business.
According to police, on Au- gust 2nd, at 11 p.m., a man iden- tified as Kelvin Barnes, 26, pulled up to the drive-thru window at Wendy’s Restau- rant. An employee told deputies that Barnes and his unidentified passengers be- came belligerent while placing their orders. At one point, the driver exited the vehicle and approached the front of the business while placing his order.
Barnes was met at the door by another employee. He then allegedly threatened to start a physical fight.
He then walked back to the drive-thru window and forced his upper body through the window. Surveillance video showed the suspect throwing items on the floor and grab- bing the cash drawer. He dropped the box as an em- ployee ran to the window. Barnes then got back in the car.

lance video of this suspect and are asking everyone to take a good look and call if they know where Kelvin Barnes is hid- ing. He didn’t get away with any money, but the damage and hostility this restaurant and its employees faced is un- acceptable and we will make sure Barnes learns his les- son.”

At that point, the woman told detectives she was in fear of her life and retrieved a firearm from the bedroom. She returned to the living room where another argu- ment took place between her and the intruder. The two ex- changed gunfire and the in- truder was fatally injured. He died in the doorway of the unit, police said.

Caretaker Charged With Abusing
88-Year-Old Man
JONAH DELGADO
A 19-year-old Tampa man has been arrested after he was observed on video abusing an elderly man. The incident took place on August 5th.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Jonah Delgado was on duty to provide care to an 88-year- old man. The man requires full time care for basic needs.
The home surveillance video shows Delgado physi- cally abusing the victim by slapping his face and yelling at him. The video also shows him place the victim in a wheel- chair, where he hit him several times in the face, head, and stomach.
Later Delgado pushed the victim into the bed and punched him in the stomach three times.
Delgado was arrested shortly before midnight on Au- gust 5th in Pasco County. He was charged with abuse of the elderly or disabled adult, and battery.
Drugs, Gun Charges Net Man 15 Years In Jail
A 40-year-old man was sentenced to several years in prison last week. He pleaded guilty to the charges He en- tered a guilty plea to the charges of distributing 50 grams or more of metham- phetamine, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possessing a firearm as a con- victed felon on February 6, 2020.
U. S. District Judge Mary Scriven sentenced De- Shawn Torrell Salley, of Tampa, to 15 years in federal prison.
According to court docu- ments and information pre- sented at the sentencing hearing, between 1999 and 2004, Salley was convicted of six felony offenses, including attempted murder in the first degree.
On eight occasions, be- tween April and June 2019,

Salley sold methampheta- mine and heroin at various lo- cations in Tampa.
Federal agents arrested Salley on July 31, 2019, and conducted a search of his apartment. During the search, the agents recovered a loaded Glock .45 caliber pistol, a bul- letproof vest, heroin, and mar- ijuana. As a previously convicted felon, Salley is pro- hibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
