Man Killed In Gunfire Exchange With Police
Beating Man With Machete Lands Two People In Jail

Two people were arrested last Thursday after an argument turned violent. The victim was attacked with a machete during the confrontation.
The victim told police that he went to the home of a woman he knew around 10 p.m., because he wanted to rent a room. The victim further said that he and the woman, later identified as Ms. Yamaiza Jimenez, 37, had been dating “on and off” for a couple of years.
While he was at the home in the 8000 block of Oak Circle, in Town N’ Country, another man, later identified as 47-year-old Mitchel Figueroa Pacheco, came to visit Ms. Jimenez. The victim told investigators that he confronted Ms. Jimenez after he observed her dancing with Figueroa Pacheco in an intimate man- ner.
The argument escalated into a physical confrontation when Ms. Jimenez slapped the vic- tim, grabbed a machete, and began hitting him with the back side of it.
Figueroa Pacheco is al- leged to have struck the victim twice with his fist, once inside the residence and again while he was in his vehicle with the win- dow down.
The victim drove himself to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Ms. Jimenez was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and battery. Figueroa Pacheco was charged with felony battery and burglary of a conveyance with assault or bat- tery.
Seven Charged With Criminal Mischief At Downtown Park

The gunfire exchange between deputies and a man took place in the parking lot of a business in Dover.

Seven people were ar- rested Saturday evening while at Curtis Hixon Park. They are accused of damaging property by throwing paint on the side- walk.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the inci- dent took place around 6:30 p.m. The group is alleged to have come to the park with the paint hidden and con- cealed in back packs with rollers.
Officers allegedly observed them throw paint over the side walk. The officers consid- ered the act to be intended to damage city property.

Those arrested were:
Kaila Robinson, Breyahn Johnson, Matthew Yam- poisky, Didier Salgado, Grant Lovering, Rebecca Gibbs, and Sylvia McDon- ald.
A 51-year-old man died Friday after exchanging gun- fire with Hillsborough County deputies. The deputies were attempting to arrest him when the shots were ex- changed.
Around 5:30 p.m., Thurs- day, police received several 9- 1-1 calls about a shooting in the 5400 block of Williams Road, in Seffner. When deputies arrived, they were told that a man had ap- proached two people in a truck. The passenger got out of the truck and the suspect shot the driver twice.
The man then forced the passenger to get in the driver’s seat and he drove a short dis- tance before crashing into a water-filled culvert. The sec- ond victim got out of the truck and fled the scene. The man pursued the victim.
A passer-by saw the victim
running and stopped to try and help. The victim got into the passerby’s vehicle and the suspect opened fire. They drove off, but crashed a short distance away.
The suspect, who was identified as Nicholas Koco- lis, drove away in a 2010 sil- ver Nissan Altima, police said.
Police Shooting
Shortly after midnight Fri- day, Kocolis was observed by police at a fast food restaurant at 12902 Newsome Road, in Dover. The deputies at- tempted to take him into cus- tody.
However, Kocolis fired several shots at the deputies, and three deputies returned fire, striking Kocolis. He died as a result of his injuries.
