FORMER TEAMMATES JOIN SELMON FAMILY AT STATUE UNVEILING
Several teammates who played football with Lee Roy Selmon and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, joined his family and other officials for the unveiling of a statue to honor the standout player. Selmon was the first overall player drafted in 1976 by the NFL, and the first player drafted by the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Tampa Hillsborough Ex- pressway Authority hosted the unveiling ceremony on Friday, June 7, 2019. The statue sits in downtown Tampa in an area known as Selmon Greenway. This is a paved area in the shade of Selmon Expressway, just off Borein and Florida Ave. From left at the unveiling are: former teammate, Tyrone Keys; former teammate and brother, Dewey Selmon; daughter, Brandy Selmon; widow, Claybra Selmon; former teammate, Dave Green; sons, Lee Roy, Jr., and Chris Sel- mon; and former teammate, Council Rudolph.
