Tampa Community Prepares For 4th Annual Girls Summit
“You Deserve To Be Loved”
Through the vision of Dr. Jeffery Johnson and sev- eral Tampa Bay leaders, the community is joining forces again to gear up for the Fourth Annual “You De- serve to be Loved” Girls Summit on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The Summit will be at Spoto High School, 8538 Eagle Palm Drive, Riverview, FL 33578, from 8:30 a. m. to 3:30 p. m.
The Summit will address the negative challenges amongst today’s young ladies, while giving them tools for ac- ademic, social, and career success. Special celebrity guests include: Ben and Brooklyn Tankard, stars of the Bravo Reality Show “Thicker Than Water,” former congressional Press Secretary and current Fox, CNN, and MSNBC News Commentator Rochelle Richie, and other surprise guests will be in attendance to inspire girls on how to over- come the pressures of adoles- cent years and share their experiences.
This year’s goal is to reach 1,000 girls and parents. The conference host will be Queen B from 95.7FM the Beat, and Goldiee the Come- dian.
The Summit is for girls that are in the 6th and 12th grade and their parents. The objective of the Summit is to inspire young ladies to achieve their dreams while building their inner character and confidence to know they are worthy of respect and

Breakout sessions will in-
clude topics on self-esteem, entrepreneurship, social skills, financial literacy and more. The day will be filled with creative activities during workshops, dynamic guest speakers from the commu- nity, empowering panel dis- cussions, free food, makeovers, and the return of the highly anticipated fashion show. Some of the youth at- tending will possibly come from single parent house- holds, low-income neighbor- hoods, or have suffered from different forms of abuse or unthinkable living conditions. The summit’s mission is to in- spire and uplift these young ladies, while educating par- ents, in a safe and construc- tive environment.

Driver Hits Wheelchair Bound Man And Flees
Detectives are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident. The accident took place this past weekend.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the 63-year-old man was attempting to cross Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd., at Nebraska Avenue, in his wheelchair around 8:30 p.m., Sun- day.
An unidentified driver was traveling northbound on Ne- braska Avenue when he struck the wheelchair, injuring the man. Police said the driver stopped, got out and looked at the victim, and then fled the scene.
The victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital in se- rious condition. He was listed in stable condition on Monday.
Police have not released any additional information. The in- vestigation is continuing.
