Organization Doing What They Can To Help The Homeless
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
With rising rents and close to 20,000 homeless people in Tampa, one organization wants to help the people that the community has forgotten.
The All Rise Foundation Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. (ARF) was created in January 2020 with the objec- tive to help the homeless and people in need.
Zandra Eardley and her son, Daryl Davis are hosting a Homeless Awareness Char- ity Dinner on January 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The dinner will take place at the Son’s of Italy Hall, 3315 W. Lemon Street, Tampa, FL, 33609.
There will be speakers from other Homeless Advocate or-

ganizations, food, entertain- ment, and a silent auction to raise money. All proceeds will go to the organization to help the homeless.
“This is the first year we are having the fundraiser. We are continuing to grow our
organization after starting it in 2020,” stated Eardley.
Eardley says they started out providing bag lunches for the homeless every two weeks on alternative Saturdays.
“Our brothers and sisters on the street needed much more than bag lunches. In 2021, we started providing them with clean clothes and personal care items.”
Eardley says they have been working hard on the event and encourages people to come out to support the group.
“We believe that we are fighting homelessness and believe we can help people make a better choice.”

Beulah Baptist Welcomes New Pastor
PASTOR ALAN HARRIS, Senior Pastor Of Beulah Baptist Institu- tional Church, his wife, JOY, and their son, ISAIAH ALAN HARRIS.
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
He has shared his vision for the church
Beulah Baptist Institutional Church recently welcomed its new senior pastor and his fam- ily. Pastor Alan Harris, his wife of soon-to-be 16 years, Joy and their 11-year-old son (“in whom I am well-pleased”), Isaiah, arrived in Tampa a few weeks ago. “We are go glad that God opened this door for us to serve Beulah Baptist,” he said.
He came to serve. The pas- tor met with the Beulah mem- bership last weekend in his “First Talk and Walk With the Pastor.” He shared the church’s new theme: “Beulah, We Build Here,” and new ministry philosophies.
“We seek to build lives on the Word of God; We seek to build holistic lives – spiritually, socially, physically, mentally, and financially; and We seek to build bridges in our commu- nity and our cities.”
He’s not stopping at these building blocks, but he wants Beulah to be “the church that is friendly and welcoming to everyone; at the same time, we want to acknowledge and ap- preciate Beulah’s identity as an African American church.” He’s also focused on “engaging in social justice, building strong families and making sure that Beulah is known for its service in the community,” he explained.
Pastor Harris and his family came to Tampa from Warrenton, Virginia. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, his preaching ministry began at the age of 19. He has served in fulltime ministry since he was 22 years old.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Spring- field, Virginia. He then ob- tained his B. A. in Biblical Studies from Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland. His hunger and desire to be en- riched intellectually and spiri- tually led him to matriculate at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he obtained his Masters of Divin- ity Degree and Masters of The- ology Degree (Th. M). Realizing continued growth is a must, Pastor Harris is cur- rently working on an Executive MBA at Virginia Union Univer- sity.
Pastor Harris has been afforded the opportunity of preaching in Austria, Toronto, Kenya and Haiti. As he is a strong advocate for social jus- tice matters, he is also a mem- ber of the NAACP.
An avid sports fan, he also enjoys traveling, reading and watching movies. Pastor Harris acknowledges he has been tremendously blessed by God. He considers family one of God’s best blessings to him.
Pastor Harris’ favorite Bible verse can be found in 1st Corinthians 15:10A, “But by the grace of God, I am what I am.”
