Super Bowl LV Could Determine Whether Patrick Mahomes Will Ever Surpass Tom Brady As Football’s GOAT
When it’s all said and done, Patrick Mahomes may go down as the greatest football player of all time.
Yes, the shadow of Tom Brady and his six rings still looms large, especially since the two will meet in the Super Bowl in two weeks. But Ma- homes may one day get there, and that isn’t a reckless or controversial statement. Not after he won his first Super Bowl last February at theripeoldageof24—the same age Brady won his first — and especially not after
NFL Gives 7,500 Vaccinated Health Care Workers Free Super Bowl Tickets
RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM
Thousands of health care workers are getting free tickets to the Super Bowl, courtesy of the NFL. The league's commis- sioner, Roger Goodell, an- nounced Friday that 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers will be invited to the annual championship game as a thank you for their service during the coronavirus pandemic.
"These dedicated health care workers continue to put their own lives at risk to serve others, and we owe them our ongoing gratitude," Goodell said in a news release. "This is also an opportunity to pro- mote the importance of vacci- nation and appropriate health practices, including wearing masks in public settings."
All of the health care work- ers invited will have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the league. Most will be invited to work at health care facilities in Tampa and central Florida, though all 32 NFL clubs will select a handful of health care workers from their own com- munities for an all-expense- paid trip to Tampa.
PATRICK MAHOMES
Mahomes’ latest legendary performance.
On Sunday, seven days after suffering a painful toe injury and a concussion in the divisional round, Mahomes
went out and dominated the AFC championship game to such a stunning degree that even his 62-year-old future Hall of Fame head coach was left in awe following the Chiefs’ 38-24 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes outclassed the extremely hungry Josh Allen — another worthy MVP candidate this season — by completing 29 of 38 for 325 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions, and his passer rating of 127.6 was his highest since Nov. 1.
BetMGM Releases Point Spread For Chiefs-Bucs, Tom Brady Will Be An Underdog
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers have beaten the odds this offseason, winning three straight road games to make a Super Bowl. They’ll need to beat the odds again in Super Bowl LV.
BetMGM released its opening line for Super Bowl LV just before the AFC cham- pionship game was done, and to nobody’s surprise the Kansas City Chiefs are fa- vored. They opened as 3.5- point favorites over the Buccaneers. The Chiefs easily handled the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game
to advance to their second straight Super Bowl.
The over/under for the game opened at 57.5, a high number befitting two MVP quarterbacks. The line did dip to 56.5 on Sunday night, shortly after it was released. If the total closes at 57.5 or more it will be the highest total in Super Bowl betting history. The Patriots’ Super Bowl LI win over the Falcons and the Saints’ XLIV win over the Colts both closed at 57. Super Bowl LI went over and Super Bowl XLIV went under.
