  Woman Promoted To Circuit Court Chief Deputy Of Records

Recently, Mrs. Julia Poupart, Chief Deputy of Records Management at the Clerk of Circuit Courts, an- nounced plans for her retire- ment. Mrs. Poupart was considered an expert in her field and left some big shoes to fill.
However, Mrs. Cindy Stuart, Clerk of the Circuit Courts, found her replace- ment in the office. She has appointed Mrs. Shevawn Spencer to succeed Mrs. Poupart as Chief Deputy of Records Management.
The promotion marks the first promotion since Mrs. Stuart stepped into her role as Hillsborough County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. Mrs.

Mrs. Stuart said, “I am confident that Shevawn will make this transition as seamless as possible. Last month, Shevawn received her 35-year service award in honor of her dedication to the Clerk’s Office.
“As Director of Official Records for six years, She- vawn has kept a steady focus on innovation, recently shepherding through our most recent initiative in pro- viding certified copies of of- ficial records online. I look forward to Shevawn joining my executive team. I will rely on her extensive knowledge and experience during my first year in office.”
Mrs. Spencer is the daughter of the late Retired Master Sergeant Dolon Bodden and Mrs. Carolyn Fields Bodden-Peterson. As a military dependent she attended schools including in Florida, New Jersey, Georgia and Germany. She graduated in 1979 from Warner Robins High School, in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Mrs. Spencer has been
married to Rufus Spencer for 36 years. They are par- ents of three sons, three grandchildren and one great grandson.
She attends New Salem M. B. Church, where she teaches Sunday School and is a member of the Deaconess ministry, and participates in community outreach.
She enjoys spending time with her family, working out and is proud to say that she has completed the Iron Girl 5k.
Mrs. Spencer has been Director of Official Records for the past six years, has worked for the Clerk’s Office for 35 years, starting as a recording clerk in Official Records.
In her new role, she will oversee the Official Records Department, the Records Center, Tax Deeds, the Value Adjustment Board and Board of County Commis- sioners Records. One of her main roles will be overseeing the retention of public records.
  Spencer is now one of the two highest ranking African Americans in the office. The first is Deputy Comptroller Tim Simon.
Mrs. Spencer said, “I
am honored to be selected to the position of Chief Deputy and I thank Mrs. Stuart for the opportunity to serve as a member of her executive staff.”

 The HCC Foundation Accepting Applications For Scholarships For 2021-2022 Academic Year
The HCC Foundation scholarship application cycle opened on January 11, 2021. The application deadline is February 28, 2021. Degree-seeking (AA, AS, CCC, VOC) students who plan to attend HCC in the upcoming Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters can access the application at hccfoundation.com/apply. The page also includes general instructions and the “Student Application Guide” for additional guidance. While only students can log in, anyone can view the currently available scholarships by clicking on “Scholarships” in the left navigation bar on the login site.
Students who are receiving Pell or State grants still qualify for Foundation scholarships. Students who have applied for federal financial aid, and awarded, may also qualify for Foun- dation scholarships. The most important criteria is having a completed FAFSA.
